Foreword I might be biased, because I have eaten Terry's Pizza for my entire life, but I will try to not let that skew my opinion of it.
Terry's Pizza is completely unique, from the soft, chewy crust, to the zesty, tangy sauce, to the pile of melted cheese that is usually as thick as the crust. (P.S., if you dab the oil off, you're a heathen and your bloodline isn't strong enough to deserve this pizza).
The hoagies and subs are piled with toppings oven roasted to crispy, melty perfection, and finished with garlic salt, because no one likes bland buns! Buffalo chicken with banana peppers, or mushroom hoagie with green olives and onions is fire fire 100, as the kids say.
I have traveled across the country multiple times and I have NEVER had a pizza like Terry's. It might not be an artisan style ancient grain sourdough baked by a hipster in a wood fired oven imported from Naples... But it doesn't have to be. It's just honest, hardworking, delicious pizza. My personal favorites are the buffalo chicken, mushroom and sausage, and good old pepperoni.
The addition of ice cream turned a local household name into an absolute juggernaut. Let me preface this by saying I have been eating here since the ice cream parlor was a VHS rental, and I can attest with 100% certainty that their milkshakes taste WAY better than any of the 'Ernest Goes to...' tapes did. Personal favorites are a peanut butter malt, and I have family members who RAVE about the Dole Whip.
Oh, their T shirts are hilarious. I have a sweater that says 'Warm Beer, Cold Food' and I have gotten more compliments and laughs from total strangers than any shirt I've ever had.
But honestly even if the food wasn't outstanding, and it is, I would come back just for the service. Terry, Jane, and their family have treated me like family since before I could talk, and if you've eaten there more than twice, they probably know you on a first name basis. No matter how long I'm away, whenever I have my first bite of Terry's, I know I'm home.
Too lazy to read this? Just get here and order something already. It'll be delicious, cheaper than you expected, you'll probably yave leftovers, and everyone there will be...
Read moreMy visit to Terry's Marathon Gas & Groceries is always.a treat. I have looked forward to it for the last 4 years (2016) since my tax consultant moved to Lynchburg, Ohio. I go there once a year and it is difficult for me to decide what I want! I always pick up one of their pizzas with varied toppings, but I can never make up my mind between the many Cheesecake desserts and the infinite salad toppings. I plan to return soon with my youngest son. Must try their meatball hoagie (they were all out this past Saturday). Must try their Fried mushrooms. I also want a slice of their 5 or 6 layered Rainbow cake! You can also play the Ohio Lottery games. My only semi turn off on Saturday is that it was packed with patrons. In past years I would meet with my tax consultant on a weekday/afternoon/evening and I would have the establishment all to myself. Also I was the only one wearing a mask! Had to wait 25 minutes for my 6 toppings pizza. But the place is so inviting and the personnel so nice, I love it! Never mind the drive of 65 miles from my house. My consultant and her hubby is just another 4-5 miles from Terry's Marathon Gas...
Read moreI would give more of a star, but after six times of getting the smallest damn salad ever made because the person that is there does not want to do their job correctly. The only two decent people that give decent salads is Lex and Chad that is pathetic. I don’t even have enough food in my dish, a rabbit couldn’t even get substance off of it. The guy that was in front of me today got a large salad times three and I know how much usually a large salad cost. There is no way that what this girl gave those people you could’ve combined all three into one container. She needs a new job. She’s got glasses and dark hair and she was wearing a black hoodie, she needs to do she needs to not be working there anymore. I come there and I spent hundreds of dollars and because she doesn’t wanna do her job. She wants to treat the locals like garbage. I adore Terry’s and I adore Terry and I adore Chad and Lexy to know and and a couple of the other people sorry if I don’t know your names, but you guys are amazing but to that individual that made my salad tonight, I won’t be...
