Rice's Quality Meats — Local services in Bloomington

This butcher is absolutely horrific. We showed up there on 4/23 during their “recommended times if needing help” to unload a cow. The worker that assisted us (Kenny) tried opening the trailer door before my husband was even done backing up. He managed to keep this 1200lb heifer in the trailer. He set up a “make shift” gate on the right side and relied on the trailer gate for the other side. Managed to get her in the shoot. He decided to dump the gate on the right. Was messin around with the end shoot gate. It was “stuck “ and wouldn’t close. By the time he went around to shut the shoot gate by the scale it was too late. Big girl was half out the shoot and managed to escape. It has been 3 weeks today. This butcher has not accepted any responsibility for their mistake. No apology! Even lied about “sending neighboring homes “flyers”. Not one neighbor we have spoke to received a “flyer”. They need held accountable for their actions. Definitely DO NOT recommend taking anything there. BTW workers have reported this is not the first time. Absolutely terrible business. And Zach the owner has not responded to anything we have sent him and taken no accountability. Absolutely horrific business. I wish I could give them...

Worst quality of meat cuts and way overpriced! I literally spoke to butcher about my desire to find better quality meats than I was finding at Krogers during my first visit at Rice’s. He assured me I would find it there. Unfortunately, my experience with the staff and the meat was less than favorable.The lady who checked me out was very rude and sarcastic when I checked out. The price was higher than originally quoted and the cut of meat on almost everything I bought was super fatty and tough to chew. It was as if they had been feeding there cows rubber plants. Took a picture of my sirloin. Could barely eat any of it it was so tough and fatty. Will not be going back there again. We now drive to Odon Meat Locker for our Quality...

I was there in Dec 11 2024 but hadn't ate all my purchases yet. I bought lamb roasts, frog legs, egg rolls ,and bison ribs. Everything I cooked was delicious. I made Irish stew with the lamb and it was amazing. Husband wants me to go back for more frog legs (eww). Yes the prices are high, as they have to pay their bills like we do and they are not purchasing cheap grades of meat. The staff were super nice. I was surprised about how good the egg rolls were. They said they don't last long. I will be back...
