When Jason and Trenton first showed up to do a recent landscaping project I initially thought, “Two guys will never be able to get this job done in two days.” It was a really big job—involving yard clean up, plantings, hardscaping, and mulching. I thought it would take a full crew of four or five at least two days to get the job done.

Then when the guys brought out the plants and a tree and set them on the front lawn on the very first morning, I thought, “Surely, they are not going to start by planting the new plants?” The beds were a mess—overgrown with weeds, old plants, and debris. It seemed like they would need to spend a whole day doing clean up before even thinking about planting anything.

But, Jason and Trenton worked so quickly and efficiently. They dug up the front bed in about an hour and had the new plants and a hydrangea tree in place on the first morning. I was amazed at how quickly they were able to get the work done. They clearly had a plan and had everything worked out ahead of time. They were both highly professional and courteous and answered all our questions and concerns. In addition to being fast and efficient, they were very knowledgeable and more than happy to explain what they were doing.

They finished the entire job in just under two days and now our front, side, and back beds look very professional and attractive. The stone edging around the front bed looks stunning—very appealing to the eye when viewed from the street (and from inside the house). We are considering having the stone edging extended to all the other beds even though they aren’t viewable from the street.

My wife and I are very happy with the work done by Jason and Trenton. They were both very professional, very skilled, and knowledgeable. We are happy with all the services Wells’ provides. The company does our lawn maintenance and mowing and we are always happy with how our yard looks. We will definitely call Wells Lawncare and Landscsping for all our yard needs. They are always reliable, professional, and get the job done in the time they allot to each project. Thank you Jason and Trenton, and thank you Wells for another job well done!

Their work is 5 stars, but the organization/operation comes in a little lower at 4 stars.

We got a few quotes from area companies before starting the work on our backyard. We were most impressed with how their team thought through the project and offered solutions to fix some of the problem areas throughout the space. We felt their pricing was fair and appreciated that their company would be doing the work and not outsourcing it to subcontractors. They did a fantastic job on our sod installation and correcting some issues with a paver patio we already had.

My main complaint is about the general lack of communication from the office. Once I signed off on the quote and paid the deposit, we didn't hear from them again. This first became a problem when they sent a team to get started on the work. We were unaware they would be arriving so we weren't able to let them know that we would actually be getting a new roof that day (a process we had started months before contacting them). The second time it became a problem was after the installation of the sod. No one from the company reached out to me to give me care instructions/best practices for letting the sod get established. I'm not saying I needed someone to come over and walk me through it every day, but an email with general care and watering schedules would have gone a long way to helping me feel confident in the investment I just made in my yard.

All that being said, I would still recommend this company to anyone looking for lawn care and landscaping in Bloomington. The work they did was excellent and I believe these minor communication issues can be very easily remedied...

We moved into a new house in December. Loved the house, hated the yard. We had a big hill at the side of our house that dropped nine feet in the span of about 15 feet. In short, mowing it was a major ordeal. We decided to contact some landscapers to see what could be done. Derek Wells responded by coming to our house, making some diagrams and then mapping out his ideas in a schematic. His schematic was detailed such that he suggested plants to be used and where they should be planted. We consulted with him and made a few changes and approved the concept. Basically, we were going to cover the hillside with river rock and have easy to maintain shrubs and dwarf trees intermixed. We also had them install stone cast concrete steps that went down the middle of the project from the top of the hill to the bottom. Also included was some additional landscaping and mulching to our front yard. We had a little wait from the time we approved the plans to the time they actually started because of their busy season. Once Jeff and his landscaping crew of Drake, "Rybolt" arrived they went right at it. The crew was very courteous, knowledgeable, and professional. They kept us informed every step of the way.
