My two sons were involved in a car crash at I80 & Rt. 970 that was not their fault. State police called Emigh's to tow the vehicles. My husband, who was at the scene, wanted it towed to our home 2 miles away. Mr. Emigh told him it was better to tow to his yard as the insurance company's tow truck would not be able to retrieve it later from our home.
When the other driver, who caused the vehicle, disputed fault, his insurance company informed me they would only pay for the towing to Emigh's and the storage for 7 days. It was day 7. Emigh charged $250 for the tow, $100 for road clean up (which the fire dept. was witnessed doing), and $30/day for storage. $560 total.
If I were to leave the totaled car at Emigh's, I would be responsible for the $30/day storage fee until the claim was settled. Or I could pay $100 to have him tow it to my home where we initially wanted it. When I argued with him that it was because of his recommendation that we take it to his place to begin with, he did not budge. He had me between a rock and a hard place and I had to pay the $100 to get the car returned.
I asked him if I had called him directly to have something towed, it would have been $150. This is a scam to overcharge insurance companies. He was ignorant and rude. If you need a tow, please be aware to find out your own facts about what insurance will cover and...
Read moreMr. Emigh was more than helpful. I got in an accident on my way to school, not familiar with the area at all, hours aways from my hometown. He was very kind and was willing to work with me. He could have abused that fact that I wasn't from the area and gave me options that would have cost me a fortune, but he didn't. At first I didn't know/couldn't remember what coverage I had on my vehicle, and he talked me through some options. Later after I filed the claim and got everything sorted out, found out I did have coverage, I called Mr. Emigh the next day and he talked me through the steps and said he could take care of everything on his end with the insurance. Which was great for me, because I am a half hour away without a car, he made things easy for me. Even if I didn't end up having the coverage, I was very delighted with his cooperation and professionalism he extended to me. Definitely would recommend his service to...
Read moreI was dirving through central PA on I-80 when my van broke down. I called AAA for help and they said that my family couldn't ride in a tow truck due to COVID and there was no easy way for us to travel with my van to a repair shop. I connected with Tom from Emigh's Towing & Recovery and he went to AutoZone, purchased the necessary parts (pulley and belt) and delivered them to me. We were able to repair my van in the median of I-80 and I was on my way again. I really appreciate his trust and willingness to help. It spared us from having to spend a day of our vacation at a...
