Susie's Garden Patch — Local services in Bonus Township

(I'm a long time tomato canner.) I bought a half bu of tomatoes Aug 22. The lady attending was not wearing a mask. I complained; no response. I had to pay first, then go to a different building to get them out of a big box. I chose the best I could find and complained to the lady they weren't ripe enough, hoping it was just the poor lighting. But when I got home I realized I should have not taken them -- but I'm 20 miles away. I usually get ten qts from a half bushel. On this one, it was 5 qts and I'm marking them to not use for gifts or serving guests....

We have been going to Susie’s for many years now. It is such a wonderful place to visit and get fresh goodies from. I have watched Susie and her family rebuild and refocus all their efforts after the sudden loss of her husband. The work they have done and the way they were able to pickup where his work left off is nothing short of inspirational. Truly a wonderful family and a hidden gem. We used to get our pumpkins here every year until a few years ago when we got there a little too close to closing time and she apparently wanted to leave early. We didn’t keep them open past closing time and wouldn’t have but that didn’t stop Susie (and her guests she was visiting with) from being extremely rude. We haven’t been back since. So many fond memories...
