Probably one of the most ghetto cemeteries I've had experience working as a Funeral Director. Albeit the woman in the office was very friendly and lovely, however the experience was absolutely embarrassing and horrendous from the cemetery crew, from the lack of communication when we arrived to ensure attendees who arrived before us knew where to find the grave, to the cemetery crew basically handling the casket like a UPS package and ripping them out of our hearse before I had a moment to step out of the vehicle (they opened our hearse door and snatched the casket without a single hello, how are you) and were rolling the casket away to the grave - have some respect for others property and loved ones! The closing of the grave was just as horrendous. To simply put it, a horde of brutish men descended upon the grave and chucked flowers, then how I can even begin to describe the lowering as a playground See-Saw of the casket where the color of the casket scraped upside the vault and was VERY aggressively handled. The real cherry on top was the cemetery crew man coming over to loudly discuss how horrible their last burial was of a child with the decedent's son standing right next to me. When I pointed out that the family was still here with us, the man had the audacity to say that losing an older person is not nearly as bad! I was appalled. The price paid for the grave opening and closing should have allotted a more respectful way of allowing our grieving family to say...
Read moreIt is a beautiful & peaceful place in a nice area but unfortunately the landscaping crew doesn't care or respect people. I was visiting my dad's grave recently & while sitting in my car sobbing, watched a guy's sitting on a lawnmower run over the petunias I'd planted on his grave the week prior. I actually have video footage of it from my dashcam. I watched as he did the same to several other graves. He was driving right up to the headstones, sometime even hitting them. I understand it may be a "frustrating" landscaping job to have to dodge all of the headstones/obstacles..but seriously?! Have some respect. I wish I didn't witness it with my own eyes. I stepped out of my car & picked up the now chopped up flowers I'd planted on my dad's grave & cried...
Read moreI was just out to St Joseph Cemetery this morning. It is a disgrace. I was on ST Vincent Way. The section I was on was disgraceful. I spent 15 min.looking for. a grave that I knew where it was. The grave was covered with weeds and truck tracks. The whole section is in terrible condition. The graves are all collapsing. When you buy a plot you pay for perpetual care. I would say that there is no care being given to the older sections of the cemetery. The Catholic Religion tells us to bury the dead. I assume it means to respect the burial place. It certainly is not happening at St. Joseph. I think the Archdiocese should look at the older sections of the cemetery. It is a poor reflections of what the...
