What is not to LOVE about Winterfell Northwoods Cabin? As we went through the winding back roads (yes we zigged, when we should have zagged - no worries tho), up to the drivewayâŚit opened up to a stunning picturesque sight of a log cabin with a wrap around deck (equally divided between covered & open)! Set back from the private road, so quiet amongst the pine & birch trees. As we exited our car, we knew this place was going to be very special & in our hearts forever - it smelled like Christmas!! We entered into Winterfell & our expectations of a âcabinâ were beyond exceeded. Light, bright & airy, no stuffy or damp smelling cabin here, super clean & spotless. The living room has cathedral ceilings, which is open to the kitchen/dining areas there is an abundance of counter space as well as cabinets with an extremely well equipped kitchen - utensils/pots/pans/plates/serving wear/glasses/mugs/pilsner glasses/etc. Modern amenities included - full size stove/oven, fridge, dishwasher, coffee machine, microwave, &&&& washer/dryer! Both bathrooms were top notch. The 3 bedrooms are more then generous in size & in storage (for those like me whoâŚwell bring the kitchen sink along w a gownâŚbecause as us girls know, âyou never know, you might need itâ đ) Super comfortable beds, all rooms have ceiling fans as well. Back to the living room, Winterfell has a huge couch (it actually should be called a cloud, as it sucks u in, perfect for a rainy day of lounging with the fireplace going & a fluffy blanket) Winterfell has a fantastic set-up on the deck. Under the covered part of the deck is where you could find my golden retriever Vixen & I most early mornings & late evenings enjoying the sounds of various wildlife (myself included- lol) There is a round bar height fire pit table that has six chairs (with backs, great for all - large to small) it runs off of propane which the host provides. Also on the deck is a full sized gas grill to use (propane) - an all time favorite to use for breakfast/lunch/dinner. There is an attached magnetic âgateâ on the deck where the stairs down to the driveway are - PERFECTION - odd to say about a gate I know, if you have small children or four legged family members this is a lifesaver/safety/peace of mind kind of gate. On the grounds of Winterfell there is a large outdoor fire pit (wood) along with seating in comfortable Adirondack chairs. The grounds have a flat/level grass area - fantastic for a football game, tag, corn hole competition, etc - great for family fun & bragging rights! Moosehead Lake is a short walk down the road - with its VIEWS!!! The pictures do not do it justice, definitely a must see - especially @ dusk. Crystal clear water, fish, ducks, & my boy Vixen rolling in the sand by the dock. We didnât swim as we went in October for fall foliage - however that did not stop my golden boy Vixen from having the time of his life. The town is small & quaint, plenty of signs for moose crossings! There are several super cute stores & restaurants, as well as a gas station & grocery/trading post store - you can get fresh vegetables & buy an atv @ the same time. The locals are all very friendly & will gladly share some local favorites. Great hiking trails, fishing spots, outdoor water sports & activities for the entire family/group. The host/owner (Billy P) is fantastic! Any & all questions we had - Billy P answered quickly & thoroughly. The directions to gain access into Winterfell were super easy & rather accessible as well. Billy P will guide you to whatever you need - from where to find extra dry fire wood/boat rentals/best atv trails/range/to the hidden gems & magic of Moosehead Lake. Winterfell, in my opinion is a true Americana vacation spot and we canât wait to go back (come onnnnn October!!) If could, I would bottle up the Christmas smell of Winterfell & bring it home with meâŚtruly a must for family & friends alike. Bravo Billy P & thank you for opening up your wonderful home for those of us that are lucky enough to have a stay @ Winterfell...

Read moreThis is is THE BEST! My family and I stayed here a couple months back and it exceeded our expectations ! Large gorgeous cabin, a block from the most beautiful lake . We had 6 adults and two dogs and it was very spacious . So many things to do and see . The owners are easy to get in touch with if any issues and really put a lot of effort into making this cabin feel like home. Thereâs even a magnetic gate blocking the wrap around porch so your pups can go outside and be protected if off leash. Highly recommend...
