A Fun-Filled County Fair Experience with a Few Price Concerns
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐
I recently had the pleasure of attending the Meade County Fair, a local event that promises a delightful experience for all. While the fair offered a variety of attractions, games, and exhilarating rides, there were a few aspects that left me with mixed feelings.
Let's start with the pricing. At $15 per person, the admission fee seemed a little steep, especially for individuals who weren't interested in riding the attractions. While I understand that the fair requires financial support to operate, it would be beneficial to consider offering a reduced price for those who are solely interested in exploring the non-ride activities such as exhibits, shows, and food vendors. This would ensure that everyone, regardless of their ride preferences, can enjoy the fair without feeling burdened by the cost.
One aspect that stood out as a potential concern was the VIP experience for rides. While it's understandable to offer special privileges to those who can afford it, it created an imbalance and made waiting for rides even more of a hassle for the general attendees. It would be great to see a fair and equitable system put in place that allows everyone to enjoy the rides without the added stress of VIP exclusivity.
Furthermore, it's worth noting that the Meade County Fair is a beloved county event, not a theme park. As such, it would be reasonable to adjust the pricing structure to reflect this distinction. A fair should strive to be accessible to all members of the community, regardless of their financial circumstances. Lowering the overall cost and exploring alternative ticket options for different activities could make the fair more inclusive and attractive to a wider audience.
Despite these concerns, it's important to acknowledge the genuinely enjoyable aspects of the fair. The diverse range of attractions, such as the exhibits showcasing local talent, the entertaining shows, and the mouthwatering food vendors, added a touch of excitement and community spirit to the event. The fairgrounds were well-maintained, and the friendly staff contributed to the overall positive experience.
In conclusion, the Meade County Fair offers a charming opportunity to celebrate community, enjoy thrilling rides, indulge in delicious treats, and witness local talent. However, there are a few areas where improvements could be made to ensure a more inclusive and fair experience for all attendees. By reevaluating the pricing structure and considering alternative ticket options, the fair could become an even more beloved and accessible event for the entire community.

Read moreThe Meade County Fair used to be a great time for the families of Meade County and the surrounding areas. We would go several days during Fair Week to see the events. But now with the outrageous entrance fees and expensive concessions we can only afford one night. Some families can't even do that with that $15 per person entry fee. Even for children. It used to be that you paid an admission fee then paid for the rides. I think they need to go back to that system. I'm not there for the carnival rides like a lot of people. People who are showing at the Fair should get in for free. They have to be there for several days running to show their animals. Then there's the parents who bring them. They are getting ripped off. It could be arranged for them to pay a day's admission and get a pass for the days that they have to show, or something along those lines. It just feels to me like someone is doing their best to line their own...
Read moreOver the past few years, my family and I have been attending the Meade County Fair, as it is a much more affordable option over the KY State Fair. I was a bit disappointed with the selection of rides for small children. I have a 5 & 3yo who really enjoy the rides they can actually ride, but this past Fair experience was less than exciting for them. It was obvious that they had at least 1/2 of what they've had in the past. I think they could do a much better job of posting when the fair actually closes. Unfortunately, we didn't make it out there until 9PM on Friday Night, paid full price only to see everything closing up at 11 sharp. I double checked their schedule and it said the rides close at closing. No mention of when it actually ends... My wife and I were thinking it would close around 12, or 1. We most-likely would not have attended had they posted the actual close time on...
