When it comes to dog training Gus Navarro and his K-9 Concepts team truly work magic. His training methods produce amazing results and I can’t recommend highly enough the accomplishments they achieve. It is important to note, that, Gus and his team achieve these results through positive reinforcement, which quickly establishes a trust and respect with the dog that lasts long after the threat of correction is gone.
On May 15th of this year, I lost my service dog, Captain, in a tragic accident. What was even more tragic was that I only had Captain for six months before the accident, yet in that short time he had become instrumental in giving me my life back. With his support I regained the mobility and freedom I lost years ago and finally had an optimism for the future. That is the life changing power a well-trained service animal can bring. Now it was gone.
Immediately after Captain’s loss, Eric Thomas from CJ3 Foundation reached out and offered to help find a replacement service dog for me. He set in motion efforts to raise the money required and to find the right dog. Gus Navarro, at K-9 Concepts Dog Training, was moved by the story of my loss and offered one of his personal dogs, Loki, as a replacement. Loki is a three-year-old Belgian Malinois that was incredibly accomplished and that Gus had been training for two years to peak performance.
Miraculously, the CJ3 Foundation, through the generosity of my family, friends and complete strangers was able to raise the funds required in less than two weeks. Meanwhile Gus got to work tuning Loki to assist me with my specific disabilities.
On July 8th I went to Camilla, Georgia, to work with Gus and Loki at K-9 Concepts Dog Training. It was amazing to witness as he, using positive reinforcement, put Loki through his paces. It was immediately apparent the bond that existed between the two and the joy Loki felt as they worked together. Over the next several days Gus worked with Loki and me and provided insights and techniques to refine and polish my skills as a handler as he prepared us for our future together.
Since returning home Loki has become everything Captain was and more. Gus continues to provide indispensable support and advice as Loki and I develop our bond and work together as a cohesive team. Words seem not enough to express my gratitude and appreciation to Gus at K-9 Concepts Dog Training for what they have done for my family and me. I thank them with all my heart. He truly is...
Read moreWe’ve had the pleasure of working with Gus at K-9 Concepts to train both of our dogs—our German Shepherd, Lady, when she was 2.5 years old, and our Doberman Pinscher, Lincoln, at just a year old. From the beginning, Gus impressed us with his calm, confident approach and deep understanding of dog behavior. Thanks to Gus, both of our dogs now have excellent manners and a strong foundation in obedience. His training techniques are incredibly effective and clearly communicated—not just to the dogs, but to us as owners, which made a huge difference. What’s even better is how much our dogs genuinely enjoy working with him. They are always eager to learn and respond so well to his guidance. Gus has helped create a lasting bond of respect and trust between us and our dogs, and we’re so grateful for the skills and structure he’s provided. I would be remiss not to mention Ragnar, Gus’s late German Shepherd and K-9 co-trainer. Ragnar exhibited model behavior and played an important role in socializing our dogs. We are forever grateful to Ragnar—may he rest in peace. We can’t recommend K-9 Concepts and Gus...
Read moreThis review is long overdue, but I want to thank Gus and his team at K9 for their work with our dog, Revan, an American pit bull terrier. One year ago this month, my husband and I moved to Vienna, Austria. Not only were we under pressure to train our dog to go from living in suburbia with a large backyard to city apartment living, but Austria also has strict regulations with this breed, so we needed to make sure he could pass these regulations AND live comfortably and peacefully in an urban environment. Gus and his team truly performed a miracle because Revan was a challenge! He came to us at 4 months old skittish, shy, and insecure. He had a lot of challenges when it came to trusting people and other dogs. To say that my husband and I are thankful is an understatement. Revan is truly a different dog. We can walk him in the streets with no issues; he sits calmly under tables when we go out to dinner, and overall he is confident and secure. We attribute all this to Gus and his team. We cannot thank you...
