Travelers, take note: No overnight parking or sleeping permitted.
People rave about Buc-eeās, but my first visit was a huge disappointment. I didnāt know much about itājust that itās a massive stopāand after driving since 7:30 AM, I figured I could safely rest overnight, like at other large travel centers such as Loveās. The parking lot was enormous, well-lit, and equipped with cameras, which gave me a sense of security. I saw signs about towing for non-customers, but nothing obvious about no overnight parking.
When I looked it up, I found their policy:
āCan I park my vehicle in your parking lot and rest there?
No. In our efforts to maintain a safe and secure environment for all of our customers, we cannot accommodate vehicles for an extended amount of time in our lots.ā
That alone was disappointing for a place that draws so many travelers. But what really sealed it for me was being told Iād be charged for hot water. I wasnāt feeling well and simply wanted some to make tea in my car while also purchasing hard-boiled eggs and fruit for breakfast. The cashier explained that hot water is treated as a coffee purchase and would be charged accordingly, since itās store policy. I declined and left. The price of a ācoffeeā for a cup of plain hot water is excessive and feels like a complete ripoff. Thatās simply ridiculous.
The facility itself was clean and fully stocked with food, drinks, and merchandise, but between the āno restingā rule and being charged for something as simple as hot water, I wonāt be giving them my business again (not that theyāll miss it). These policies make it clear they cater more to profit than...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe decided to pay Buc-ees a visit; there's a lot to buy there (T-shirts, mugs, hats, fridge magnets, etc), most of them prominently featuring Buc-ee the Beaver. I kind of felt as if you'd be just paying hard-earned cash to be a walking advertisement for the store.
We got brisket sandwiches, and it would have been nice to have an area where we could sit and eat them. As it happened, we just sat in the car and enjoyed them. And I should say we definitely enjoyed the brisket: it's everything they say it is.
I also was wishing they had some benches placed here or there so people could take a load off while shopping. I'm pushing 60, so it's nice to have somewhere in a store to just sit for a few minutes and rest your feet.
The brisket is terrific, and the service is first rate, but I'm not sure I'd go out of my way...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis was my first time ever going to a Buc-eew and while it is huge and cool, I'll never go back again. I asked them if I could get a brisket sandwich without the barbecue sauce on the bun.And I was told straight out no! that if I wanted to add anything or change anything.I needed to buy in bulk. I spoke to manager just tosay hey is this normal? he looked at me then looked around and walked away. I think I have left reviews maybe twice in my life and I hate doing these but I'm just very upset by this and disappointed..especially at what I was told was such a great...
