Good part is it's sort of a blue collared place, not many people with their nose up here. The people here are all fantastic. The course is a challenge, nothing to complain about unless your not very good and care about losing balls. So the service is good, the course is good, the food here is pretty good and the overall value is not bad.
My main problem here is the driving range. I really wish they would upgrade it. This is where I get most of my practice in and I would definitely be willing to pay a little more for things like a real green about 60 and 120 yards out, I would like to see the spin on my ball and how it reacts at landing. I don't thinks it's too much to ask for since Fox bend has them and charges only $0.50 more a bucket. The hitting area on the range could use some TLC as well, Parfection a fun center on 47 in Yorkville has better grass on their range and their not even a golf course. I hope they take some recommendations and improve this, if they do this review will go from 3...
Read moreExcellent value golf course. Interesting design, and very well maintained for a public course. Pace of play on a weekday was quick, but I've had slower experiences on weekends.
Tee boxes suit a variety of playing levels. Greens were in outstanding condition. Kudos to the landscaping team. Some sand traps were a bit worse for the wear, but we'd recently had a lot of rain so I think weather conditions made some unplayable.
While it's situated in a neighborhood, you're not on top of homes, which is a plus. Restaurant food and drinks were tasty, but avoid the deli sandwich as it was very light on ingredients. Beverage cart was rolling on a weekday, which was a welcome sight. Staff is friendly and on-task. Practice facility is great.
Good luck on hole #18, it's often a mood-wrecker.
I highly recommend...
Read moreVery nice facility, well maintained tees, fairways and the greens are in especially excellent condition. Well worth visiting and playing. Will definitely return soon. Wasn't able to stop in the Oaks Grille but certainly will next visit. Word of caution if traveling from the North on Kennedy Rd. There are train tracks just north of the course entrance. If a freight is crossing Kennedy, you could be delayed for a while. GPS can navigate you through the neighborhood to the east to the avoid the RR crossing if you turn...
