Check your dates. I purchased some jelly in Late Nov or Early Dec 2024, with a best by date of May 2023.
I came in to talk to someone about it, making sure to say first that the taste wasn't great, before I ever noticed the date. At the register, they sent me to the back to speak with a man there.
A good business would have apologized and gone from there. What I got was "That don't matter" in regards to the date. Legally, absolutely true. From the MFG, that's supposed to indicate peak taste and freshness. Which I did not get to experience. I didn't stay around to listen to anything else, you were already setting the stage to deny me when I wasn't even asking for anything, truly just coming to let you know.
A customer focused business says I'm sorry, how do we fix it. Not, look at how you're wrong. I didn't walk in asking for anything, nor making any demands, and came with nothing but a friendly demeanor and the jar of jelly I'd half eaten. Nobody got sick, there's no legal requirement, I was just trying to do my part to help a business I used to like and immediately the person I spoke to jumped to defensive language.
This is the same business where my wife and I came after hours to look at pumpkins, not realizing it was after hours (we got there at 515, thought they closed at 530, totally my fault). While looking, a stem detached and the pumpkin hit the ground and smashed. I came back the next day to pay for it and buy two more that I wanted. That's the kind of person I am, and always hope it's reciprocal. Unfortunately it's not.
I'll find somewhere else to shop, I'd advise anyone else that read this far to as well. There are certainly other business that would like to see us come...
Read moreThis was my first visit in a long time, but this place has upgraded to selling Farmhouse type gift items too, so it has a real old-time country store feel. I lived for many in Amish Country and I love visiting for their selection of Amish food stuffs. They also sell old time bulk candy, gardening plants/seeds and decorative items as well as fresh produce. My favorite place for fresh produce when I want to stop.on the way home. You definitely see a lot of old timers stop in here who knew the original owner J.R. I remember when it was a very small produce stan, back in the late 60's/early 70's before it grew to what it is today. We often stopped on our way home from church to pick up fresh vegetables for our...
Read moreA fun experience! We are new to the area, so what I say can't compare to other experiences in the area- but it's fun to us. There were China-made products in the back, which was disappointing to see. With AMISH on the building... I would have felt scammed if I bought it and then learned that. Lots of other fun and unique items, though! Bean selection was vast! The service was terrific!! And the apples were a big hit. Overall, we will be coming back! My kids are looking forward to some of those...
