First off I have a lot of experience with equine. I teach lessons and take care of sickly horses as well as train young ones. So needless to say i know what Iām talking about here. First when you get to the door you are greeted with a man with no personality at all.you are told to sign a document that asks you about your experience. I of course put experienced, but my mother who had no experience at all chose none. They completely disregard the ranking of your experience with equine which is absolutely terrifying to me as a instructor. They paired my mother itās a 3-5 year old (young horses are more dangerous compared to a trained older horse) They put me on a 14-16 year old. The girl and guy leading the expedition before we left taught everyone āāHow to driveāā. All they taught these new riders was Stop, go, and turn. They taught them nothing about how they shouldnāt trot or canter on rocks to protect the horses hooves or how to sit in the saddle going up and down hill. The two people leading didnāt talk to us the entire time. They just talked amongst themselves making the ride uncomfortable. While we were starting to the ride we went through a pasture to get to the trails. My mothers horse stopped and wouldnāt budge. The guy stayed behind with her after telling the rest of the group to leave. when we looked back he had fallen off his horse and was chasing it to the barn. Leaving my mother who was inexperienced alone in the middle of a open street. There were no safety training for these young kids at all. Later i learned that when the guy caught the horse then came back to my mom who was standing there by herself for over 10. She wanted to go back to the barn which is understandable since she was very scared. HE MADE HER TROT BACK TO THE BARN!! I am so angry that even after my mom said no heās stilled grabbed her reins and made her trot. I am absolutely horrified with this. My mom is now terrified of horses and will no longer get on one. Thanks for that by the way. The kids also cornered a calf on the trail and separateated it from its mother laughing the entire time with the calf was running away form them and its mom. They had us trotting on rocks in the rivers. This place either needs to under go new management or shut down. They are irresponsible and have no business being around equine. I am...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had a wonderful 2hr trail ride tonight! Conquered my childhood fear of riding horses, so this experience and pace was perfect for me. I was solo and called last minute, on a whim and they were able to book me for a 4pm tour. The scenery is gorgeous, like out of a postcard. Guides were very nice and helpful. As others have noted, you will not receive 2hrs of history on this tour. It is quiet, peaceful and serene. I did engage with the guides and asked questions about my horse, about the land, and wildlife and they were friendly and informative. For me it was the perfect balance of info and a reflective quiet trail ride. I would definitely book again. Some things to consider when you go: 1) get a phone pouch with a neck cord to wear if you are going to take pics with your phone. I randomly thought to bring this with & glad I did. Two people on my tour dropped their phones on the ground while attempting to take pics while riding. The guides grabbed the phones so they werenāt lost for good. 2) on the tour I took, you will not be getting on and off the horses to take pics or pit stops, in case this is important to you. 3) At the end of the tour, granted we were the last one of the day, I did ask if I could spend a little time with my horse face to face since he just hauled me up and down a mountain, and after he was tied up, they were nice enough to let me come in to their feeding area to give him some pets 4) if you want to know something, ask the questions. The guides were more than willing to share information when you engage with them. 5) this is not a fast paced, amusement park, history of OK kind of tour, which I LOVED. But keep that in mind if you have younger children or adults that need/want to be entertained outside of a lovely quiet ride. Hope you...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis was the worst most humiliating experience of my life. We made a reservation for a trail ride and we were so excited for it, already paid and showed up early. When we got there they told us to stand on the scale to weigh us in front of everyone and then said my weight in front of everyone and said I was a couple pounds over the exceeded weight limit. They said they have a weight limit on their website but we just called to make the reservation and didnāt look at their website. They didnāt say anything to us on the phone and paid for the trail ride over the phone. I understand Iām not thin but Iv ridden horses for a long time and have never been refused because Iām too heavy. Not to mention when I was weight I had boots, a jacket on, sweater around my waste and backpack on. They didnāt even give me the chance to take all that off. They were so rude about it and not discreet and humiliated me in front of a large group of people. Having policies in place is one thing I can understand that but itās how they handled it and how they were so rude and loud about me being over weight. Iām sure the people at this establishment will comment and harass me over this review like they have done others who have explained their experience which is petty and immature, but I still wanted to share. And I just want to say after being so humiliated we found Outlaw Trail Rides and went on a hour trail ride and had the BEST experience. They were so kind and their horses were so well trained and amazing. They didnāt shame me for being a couple pounds over their āweight limitā and it was a...
