We stopped in the morning for gas and decided to check out the store. Sandwiches were available for breakfast and lunch. We asked for vegetarian/vegan sandwiches and they went out of their way to accommodate us. We didn’t want the tomatoes as we were going on hike and it would make the sandwiches soggy. They said no worries and gave the tomato slices in a separate wrapping, pickle in a separate wrapping, sandwiches wrapped tight with paper boats/plates to eat on the trail. The sandwich was awesome, the roll was baked fresh that morning(we had to wait 10 mins for it to finish baking), sandwich was not soggy and the tomatoes stayed firm and we added that to the sandwiches.    Read moreI've been coming to this place for nearly two decades now. The owners have changed, once, maybe twice within that time but the 'look' of the place has always stayed the same which I appreciate. They've got a ton of gifts, souvenirs, and camping material - plus a whole downstairs floor dedicated to fishing. They have a ton of new and old school candy albeit a bit expensive. The sandwiches are the most delicious along the trail and they are always consistent. If you're stopping here off the bike trail to grab food, take it another mile or so down the trail to Tomb Flats - a really beautiful campground with picnic tables. Its a great...
Read moreYoooo this is the place to be.
My grandpa owns a cabin down the road and every summer we come up here from NoVa. I have such memories and look forward every summer to come here. Sadly, this summer I won't be able to come because I'm going to a long overnight camp when we were supposed to go.
Very nostalgic thinking about coming here! My grandpa opens a tab for us every summer and we get 5 dollars to spend here each day. Because my sugar intake is way below my fellow peers, this is my only time to catch up in the year other than Halloween and Easter. I 100% recommend it. If you're staying in Slate Run, then ride down the bike path that sits on the edge of the creek and grab a bite to eat. It has so much including clothes, toys, hunting gear, and fishing gear.
Cheers to...
