Service was horrific. Basically the waitresses attitude was get your food and get out because I want to stand at the counter and eat my food and talk to some customers. She was an older lady but do to people's feelings, I won't mention names. After we sat down the older waitress sent a young waitress to us about 5 minutes after we sat down, while she watched us the entire time. The young waitress looked annoyed and basically just asked us what we wanted and marched away with a who cares attitude.
As far as the food goes, My wife got the 3 pc fried chicken meal with the chicken so greasy you had to wipe it off before eating it and the meat was so dry it literally took the moisture out of your mouth. The mash potatoes you could use as dry wall filler and it tasted like it as well. The coleslaw came out and for some unknown reason it was bubbling. Yes I said bubbling. But the gravy was descent. I had the giant ham steak that the waitress claimed would fill me up. It was 3 slices of ham about the size of a small size orange. The cottage Cheese is a little dryer than normal and chewy. It tasted like it had been sitting out all night. The Apple sauce was okay.
All side portions and meals were a little small, it could have been a little bigger. For the prices it wasn't worth the money to portion ratio. My wife immediately was sick and had to go to the bathroom before we even received the check. This is our fourth time there and it gets more and more of a disappointment. One other side note they are not really military friendly. I ask the young waitress if they offered military discount and she said yes after 3 times asking. It took two times for her to ring up our bill and apply the discount.
All of this took place at little sandy's truck stop in Bruceton Mills, WV on...
Read moreAbsolute worst dining experience in a long time. The table was filthy and we had to ask for some housekeeping. The server reluctantly and sarcastically complied, but not very thoroughly. She avoided a straw wrapper on the table and wiped around it. Then the wait for the food was unreasonably long. The food was mediocre at best. Drink refills had to be requested; they were not offered. When the bill arrived, a $5.93 gratuity was forced upon us by being added to the bill. When I got up to pay, the children started to laugh because I had a big brown smear on the rear end of my shorts. It was chocolate that apparently I got from my dirty Little Sandys dining chair. At the register, I told the server to remove the gratuity and fetch the manager so I could air my complaints. She returned from the kitchen and told me that the manager was busy cooking and would not be available to talk. She tried to swipe my card and the point of sale machine wouldn't work. I had to ask a friend for cash to pay my bill. The server became irate and said that she would have to pay taxes on the gratuity whether she got it or not, and that when you eat Out "you pay tip". In the end, a family left to go to subway because they were offended by the way the server was acting and because the manager wouldn't even come out to hear a customer. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. Will never go back. I come about every 6 months to see if it has improved....and it NEVER has. They have no children's menu. And the whole joint is disgustingly dirty. No surface is safe. I will never...
Read moreUPDATE...So decided to stop here again for a quick breakfast with the family. Nope. Waited for over 40 minutes and we were still without our order. So we threw down a few buck to cover the coffee and OJ and left. Completely unacceptable service. So the things that led to that were as follows. When we ordered we were not told it was going to take 40+ minutes for pancakes and a few fried eggs. If we were informed that there would be a wait we likely would have left and not wasted our time. It was not busy at all, maybe 8 tables occupied with two servers attending tables. It took almost 20 minutes to get a refill on my coffee and it wasn't my server that did it either, complete lack of attention from the front of house staff. The last and probably the most annoying thing, is that there were three other tables that arrived and ordered AFTER we ordered that received their orders before we did. Terribly infuriating. It appears to be a culture of failure from top to bottom at this once proud establishment. This place has lost my family's business for good now. We will spend our money elsewhere in the future. AVOID IF YOU CAN! You have been warned.
Now that they have remodeled and changed the menu up a bit it is improving. I avoided this place for years, but they are slowly earning my business back. Time will tell. Then again it is a truck stop so...yeah. The burgers ain't bad. Plenty...
