Apologies to the reader for my long review but I hope you follow to the end. Sadly, my review is based on the company's deceptive practice regarding their cancellation policy. In late March, I reserved two nights for my return trip from FL to NJ in late April. The desk agent told me she'd send an email receipt and cancellation policy but that the system was down and she'd send it next day. In the interim, we called back and added a day to our stay thinking we'd like to explore the area more. I had read the policy on their website beforehand, and had no worries.
The policy as copied and pasted from site: "Cancelation policy Must make any changes or cancel 3 days before your reservation to get back your deposit minus a $5.00 cancellation fee. Coastal GA RV is not responsible for early departures necessitated by weather, illness, work schedules, personal emergencies or other situations affecting our guests. Fees are NOT REFUNDED for early departure and NO RAIN CHECKS."
Since there was a three-day notice for cancellation with refund, we weren't concerned, should something unexpected change our plans. However, the receipt I later received stated that if any changes are made, there are no refunds after the first change, only the chance to reschedule. Again, I wasn't concerned.
While on our trip, we unfortunately realized we'd underestimated the driving hours needed to get to this destination, and that we would have to find a closer spot. I called to cancel, giving EIGHT DAYS' NOTICE. I was told that because I'd "made a change," there was no refund. I told the agent that all I'd done was add a day to my initial reservation, and that I did this prior to receiving their emailed policy. "It's still a change." I reminded her that they had not stated the policy during the booking process, and I was giving more than a week when they require only three days. It didn't matter. "I still made the change for you." There was no option other than to reschedule. Since we live in NJ, and weren't planning to travel through again, it was clear I would lose my full deposit.
I DO understand the need for policies. I was responsible for maintaining office policies for over 18 years at my job. I have also booked the reservations for over 11,000 RV miles in the past year and have never encountered anything so dishonest, ridiculous and customer-unfriendly. In fact, on the outbound leg of this very trip from NJ in which we stayed in VA, NC, SC, another part of GA and FL, we needed to postpone our initial departure due to severe weather with dangerous high winds. EVERY RESORT understood and shifted our stay without remark or issue. One resort rep - in Georgia, coincidentally - who couldn't find availability, even called me back to say she'd figured out a way to make it work for us. THAT is good customer service.
I've been told it's a nice rv campground, but I'll never find out. Shame on you,...
ย ย ย Read moreWe will be back! This is one of the most well thought out RV parks we have been to. Great use of the space. We had neighbors, but there was enough coverage in between rigs to feel like it was your own. The concrete pads along with the well taken care of grassy areas were top notch. The pool is small but well taken care of. Air conditioned laundry space. The office staff does go above and beyond. Mr. Jeff was quite animated and helpful. Great personality. Great suggestions as to what to do and see in the area. Brunswick is an amazing town and Iสปm almost afraid to say that we like the place because we enjoyed how much freedom we enjoyed from being away from the crowds of people. They can get quite busy and hold rallies often through the year, so I can see this RV resort being busy, but when we stayed it was a mellow week. We had great experiences with our RV neighbors. The boardwalk + lake was gorgeous to walk on during all times of the day. We had zero issues with our site or our hookups but we know there are more prime spots available! The end caps are great spots and near the water are great spots too. I liked how they had logical สปrules,สป that made sense and it felt like it was to enhance everyoneสปs experience instead of some RV parks weสปve been to that had rules that seemed borderline invasive. We loved the daily trash pick up. And our pup had no problems getting in all the sniffs and occasional pets from all the nice folks weสปve met. We extended our stay and we are happy with our choice to stay here longer! 10/10 โญ๏ธสปs. Average $60 a night for a full hook up, pull through, concrete padded site. Pet friendly. Large RV resort, so there are 3 laundry facilities. $1.75 for wash/$1.75 for dryer. Small dog park, but lots space to walk your furry family member. Lots of pet waste stations with poop bags available. Also, we found it quiet, no loud trains or highway traffic! The wifi here were spotty and slow a times, so if you require a strong connection that is something to keep in mind. They have a couple of conference rooms and a grand ballroom available for a small rental fee. Buddy sites available, too! Thanks so much Coastal Georgia RV Resort! Happy...
ย ย ย Read moreCamped with the parents. While we enjoyed the time together, this isn't our cup of tea. We like camping at state parks where there are lots of great outdoor spaces for the puppies to play, springs and rivers for kayaking and trails for biking and hiking. Here we discovered there was no fire ring, so no fire to enjoy. The site was very narrow, so narrow that we could barely extend our awning. The pad was concrete which was nice and it was pretty much perfectly level. That was amazing! But it was so small the picnic table took up the entire space. No place to put out chairs. We were surrounded by tall shrubs on each side so we had privacy, but we felt very closed in. When we made our reservation they erroneously put us down for 2024! And it's supposed to be for next week. I happened to catch it and it was a huge pain to fix. Several phone calls back and forth later we were told we had our site we reserved. However before we arrived my parents discovered they had us far away, not on the correct site which was next to theirs. Someone else had arrived and set up on it! My parents asked and found out what was going on so they arranged to have us moved as close as possible. So much for camping side by side. The sites are $60 a day which is about twice the rate for our usual locations. Again, we don't like concrete parks. We prefer beautiful nature, lakes, trees and open space. To each their own. We went to the clubhouse to play games and enjoy a meal together. It was filthy. Our group wiped down a couple of the tables and just stopped. There's a "lake" ?? It may be good for fishing. Lots of grass and lilies, some ducks. There's a wooden walkway around one side which was nice. Not sure how it happened but all the members of our group were not put in sites near each other. Literally spread from 300, 400, 500, 600, 700.... crazy. I don't think I've ever left a negative review for a campground before. We're pretty laid back. However, like I said it may be your preference but it's just not ours. I do not...
