⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Clingmans Dome (now officially called Kuwohi) is truly a bucket list stop in the Smoky Mountains! Don’t let the name change throw you off—some signs still say Clingmans Dome, others say Kuwohi, but it’s the same amazing destination. Parking is super easy—$5 with a credit card at the kiosk when you arrive. There are bathrooms at the start (not the cleanest, but definitely glad they’re there). The walk to the top is no joke—it’s steep, so wear comfy shoes and take your time. Thankfully, there are plenty of benches along the way to rest and soak in the mountain air. When you finally reach the top, the view is absolutely breathtaking—you can see layer upon layer of mountains stretching for miles. It’s one of those places where pictures don’t even do it justice, but I still recommend snapping a ton (and if you like mine, a little ❤️ goes a long way in helping me share the beauty). Pro tips: • Go early or later in the day to avoid the biggest crowds. • Bring water and maybe a light jacket—the temps are cooler up here. • Don’t rush it—the journey up is part of the experience. Whether you call it Clingmans Dome or Kuwohi, this is an unforgettable stop in the Smokies. Highly recommend!

What a beautiful place! The drive up the mountain is long (and sometimes a bit scary) but takes you right to the parking lot. Try to use the bathroom before heading up, the ones in the lot are super stinky and almost unbearable (you are on a mountain). The views from the lot are gorgeous! At the base of the paved path is a welcome center/store. We went early in the morning (which I suggest) so the store wasn't open and the traffic was light. If someone in your party has difficulty walking or breathing, this is where they may want to stop. Which again, is stunning within itself. There is a .5 mile paved path uphill to the lookout. The uphill walk and altitude made it difficult to catch your breath at times but there are benches along the way. When you reach the top, there is a 360 ramp to the viewing spot. There is a lot of information about the mountain ranges and the history of Clingman's Dome as well as Newfound Gap in addition to the spectacular views. The walk down, while MUCH easier, is a bit rough on the knees. Nevertheless, this was one of my highlights of my trip to the Smoky...

Great place to visit for amazing views across the Great Smoky Mountains.

There's a steep footpath that you can walk up to get to Clingman's Dome. The walk isn't easy but there are plenty of benches for people to stop off on the way up. Allow 20-30 minutes to reach the top.

It's worth the walk though. The views are breathtaking.

For those not able to make it to the top, you'll find just as amazing views from the car park. The only thing you won't get is the 360 degree views but the views you do get from the car park are great.

They have plenty of toilets at the car park. The car park doesn't get locked up when the visitor centre closes, so you can visit the car park even though the visitor centre is closed. I'd recommend trying to get there for sunset.

We saw a black bear when we were driving up to the car park. That added to our experience.

If you're in the area, definitely take time out to visit here. It can get busy, so bear...
