Poor business practices!
I am very disappointed with the service I received from R&G Maytag.
The oven stopped working in my rental property in March, so I called R&G. It took six phone calls speaking with three different individuals, and three weeks to get a service guy to come out (less than 1 mile away from their business). The inexpensive oven is eight years old, so I asked all three that I spoke with at R&G to give me an estimate before making any repairs to see if buying new would be more cost effective in the long run. Without hearing a word from R&G, I receive a bill in the mail for $275. (A brand new oven of the same model currently sales for only $320 at Lowes!) Furthermore, the bill listed four widely different parts they replaced, from the clock module to the heating element, telling me they did not diagnosis and fix the problem, but only changed a bunch of parts until it started working again…
I attempted to call and discuss my displeasure with R&G the day after I received the bill. Ron, the owner, started the conversation overly aggressive and hateful, telling me that he knew he was going to get screwed having to work on a rental property and didn’t figure I would pay him anyways. I was born and raised in Bryson City with all my family still there; does Ron realize that Bryson City is 50% rental properties? And, I have done business with R&G in the past, never had an issue and always paid my bills immediately. So, I am not sure why he stated that he “knew he would get screwed.” If given a repair quote of $275, I would have paid the service charge and bought a new oven from R&G. All in all, I am the one that will get screwed. I am mailing R&G the full $275 payment for what hopefully keeps the oven running for a few more years, but will NEVER do business or recommend R&G Maytag in Bryson...
Read moreThe first time I called this business a few years ago the fellow told me rodents probably chewed through the wires in my washing machine. (there were opossum footprints in my garage where the washer is located) It was a new machine and turned out to be a computer chip that needed to be replaced. Recently, the same machine stopped spinning at full speed so unfortunately I called the only Maytag guy nearby again. Today, he asked me if I had boys in the house because they don't empty their pockets. He noticed coins between the washer tub and the agitator and thought that was the issue. He attempted to take out the agitator but couldn't loosen it no matter the tools or they banging he did on it. He then attempted to turn on the washer again but nothing happened except locking and unlocking the lid. It would not begin a cycle. Then he said this machine is done and wanted to know if I have heard of Speed Queen. He destroyed my 8 year old Maytag washer in a matter of 10 to 15 minutes, charged me over $100 to do it and walked away. He never checked a thing. He just destroyed a machine I could at least use although didn't spin at full speed. Now I can't use it at all! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! This guy should retire.
In response I suggested unplugging the machine to let it reset. He did not want to do I that. I unplugged it after his departure. I plugged it in later that evening. Guess what. It responded. I guess I...
Read moreWe have had nothing but positive experiences with this shop. The receptionist is VERY friendly and helpful! They are prompt and reliable with service calls...they come when they say they will. Don't expect a super bubbly service tech, but they will answer all your questions do their job well and efficiently!
I've seen some reviews about overpriced parts and expensive service call...Keep in mind, every shop has a markup on parts. You are out in the middle of nowhere...the fact that you can get somebody to even come by to help you within two days is a miracle around here, and I'll gladly pay a little extra for promptness and the correct, in-stock part that can be...
