Day 10, still no refund I went in last Wednesday to rent a truck, everything was going fine and I swiped my CC for $55.74, the CC machine told me it was approved. The customer service rep told me it didn't go through and to try again. I trusted her and did it again, but I realized after I swiped for the second time, it was for $81.84?!? Both times the CC reader showed approved. She then said it didn't go through again. She called Linda (Asst. Mgr) to help us because she wasn't sure what was wrong. While waiting for the manager, I checked my banking app and Menards did in fact charge my card for both amounts!! Linda didn't appear to be very thrilled to be a Menards employee as she approached the rental counter.. Rather than helping me first, Linda said "I'm going to take care of this line of customers". I was clearly not a "top priority" to Linda. I was on a time crunch and started to become agitated. Not only were my needs not being met, but my bank account was now depleted. I went to the counter by check out and demanded to speak to the general manager. Mr. Dalh said that he could only release my funds when they close their CC transactions during closing. Made sense, but I was expecting an apology, piece of candy, a drink or even better..... A free 75 min in their rental truck?!? Nope. Nothing. I was still waiting for any employee to smile at this point or even smooth things over by going above and beyond their expectations as a well known store. I left with nothing. No money, no rental truck no smiles š¤ I called corporate the next afternoon and talked to Dan as I still didn't have my funds. He stated that he found both transactions in their system released my funds and should have my refund in about a day. Mr.Dan lied to me about Menards releasing the funds. My bank didn't see anything regarding a release, and it's been 7 days and it's still not there. My bank stated Menards never even pushed the pre authorization into a purchase, because of that, my bank holds a pre-authorization for 10 days if the merchant doesn't finalize the purchase. They all could have cared less about me as a customer. I then went to see the always reliable, honest, friendly, knowledgeable Steve at Klatt True...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIn 1 day alone Iāve had 3 major issues with this Menards. The only reason Iām finally writing a review is because unfortunately this is the norm at this location - I have been shopping here for two years since moving to the area and spent thousands of dollars and have come to expect a terrible customer experience.
Today alone, they 1) delivered the wrong fencing material, which then needed to be returned - delaying that part of my project 2) the welded wire material that was correct, ended up being defective and having a huge hole in the middle of the fence, which I only realized, of course, in the middle of installing that role - I then had to return that role, which took 90 minutes with travel time away from my project, and 3) just now, a final straw, another role of fencing was supposed to be 50ā long, but when I unrolled it was actually only 36ā long - making me short for my project. Why should I then have to either go buy more from them to complete my project or rip off the short piece and return it... what a terrible experience all around!
Now, the staff are very friendly and helpful when you can find them - I have no beef with the people. The real problem with Menards is with their underlying āself-serviceā business model along with their very poor product quality, which doubles or triples my time on projects.
If your time is worth money (which I believe everyoneās is) donāt waste it with Menards - instead of āsaving bigā on a few dollars you will end up āspending bigā in terms of wasted time and effort navigating their self-service stores and returning their defective products.
And by the way, Home Depot will match every Menards sale dollar for dollar, even the whole-store 11% rebates. Just google āHome Depot 11ā to see for yourself. And better yet, Home Depot will not make you use snail mail to send t in and then make you wait up to 6 weeks for your rebate. Instead, you can register your receipts from your phone and get a gift card 1 week later!
Goodbye Menards....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe ordered all of our needed materials to replace our deck online. We paid the service fee to have Menards shop the product for us. When we showed up to pick everything up, it was all on a pallet ready to be loaded into our car. We got towards the end of our project and realized that Menards gave us 2 side railings and 2 stair railings, when we ordered 4 side railings and 0 stair railings. We went back to Menards to swap them out for the correct items that we ordered. In addition to be not what we ordered or needed, the stair railings cost more than the side railings so Menards gave us product that was more than what we paid for. When we got to Menards to swap it out, the customer service we received was incredibly disappointing to say the least. The manager was very rude to us and not only stated there was nothing they could do, she then began to tell us that itās our problem because we grabbed the wrong items. When we explained that we paid to have them shop the items for us and they had them all on a pallet, she then told us that they donāt have any items in stock to swap them out. We were informed by the workers outside that they do have them in stock, so when we mentioned that to her she said that the āin stockā items are all for online orders. This is just really frustrating because WE placed an online order and were given the wrong items so this should be made right. She continued to very bluntly state that she canāt help us, so when we said weād just keep the more expensive railings then, she started trying to charge us the difference in price. At this point, we just walked out. Not only has this been incredibly inconvenient and frustrating, the customer service was extremely rude and degrading. We just wanted the correct items we paid for to finish our deck. Buffalo, Minnesota Menards needs...
