Update: I increased my rating to 4 stars because I have gotten to the point where my math classes have classes, which makes life so much easier. I no longer have to bang my head against a brick wall because if I get stuck on something I can ask my teacher in class. The reason I am giving 4 stars and not 5 stars is because I believe every math course should have a class. To anyone struggling with early math classes just know it gets better in the later classes if you can believe it.
On the verge of dropping out because the resources just don't explain how to solve the problems we're expected to solve in Math. The teachers do a good job which is why I am giving two stars instead of one, but they can only do so much when the textbook and other resources are so poor. Imagine a textbook explaining to you how to solve 5 * 5 and then saying "Okay, now that you know how to do 5*5 solve 1000000.25/652.32 * 1938598599523/24674" and you'll have an idea of how bad the resources are. With the due dates, there isn't enough time to email the teacher and wait for a response back every time I run into a brick wall like this. I just don't understand why this happens constantly, where the example problem that is explained to us is so simply, and then the problem we're expected to solve with that knowledge is a lot more complicated and the steps just aren't explained. I had this issue at times with MyOpenMath in previous classes, and I hoped that having a textbook would make it better. But the textbook is actually even worse. Maybe the tutoring is better, I wouldn't know because I followed the directions to access the tutoring and I can't even log in to it. These issues are specific to the math classes to be clear, I haven't run into issues like this with the others. But Math is a large portion of what is required to get any degree, so it's essential to have good resources. Instead, I spend hours just stuck banging my head against the wall because I have to look elsewhere for help with the problems presented. I just spent 4 hours on two problems and didn't solve either of them, because the textbook couldn't be bothered to explain how...
Read moreI applied last year and I couldn't take classes because I was still moving here. I reapplied 2 days ago it said all I needed was 2 documents to turn in. I turned them in yesterday and I still can get Into my account I called again today and they still have me blocked even though I turned in all my paperwork. MCC has vastly improved since. I like the renovations they've made, the features they have to offer and their staff has overall, improved.
They seem to get the idea now that in order for any College to succeed, it must be staffed with light-hearted, understanding and compassionate people.
The only downside is classes are still not offered at this campus...
