Disappointed and Disheartened – Not the Experience I Hoped For

I was excited to try this head spa after seeing it featured on Instagram. When I saw they had a location in my hometown, I chose to support local rather than traveling into Pittsburgh. Booking the appointment online was easy, and I appreciated the option to add on services. I selected a 45-minute head spa ($75), along with a 15-minute sauna, a foot massage, and a shoulder/neck massage.

Unfortunately, the experience from the moment I arrived left much to be desired.

I arrived early — as advised in the confirmation email — to fill out paperwork, only to be told none was required. That would have been helpful to know ahead of time, especially since there was no seating area to wait. The shop’s flooring is poorly installed, with loose linoleum creating raised areas that are easy to trip on — definitely a safety concern.

When I was taken to the sauna room, I was told the sauna hadn’t had time to fully heat up. No apology or offer of a refund or substitution was made. After 15 minutes in the underheated sauna, I got ready for my service — only to have someone walk into the room while I was half undressed. She did knock, but didn’t wait for or acknowledge my response before entering, which made me feel extremely uncomfortable and disrespected.

The actual head spa treatment was the biggest letdown. The technician didn’t explain what she was doing at any point — no conversation, no check-ins about pressure, no effort to create a relaxing atmosphere. The pressure on my scalp was extremely light — far less than a typical hair wash at a salon — and most of the time was spent adjusting the water or wringing out my hair. It did not feel like a 45-minute specialized treatment, and there was no clear distinction between the head spa and the “add-ons” I had selected. It felt like they were all crammed into the same limited time frame, which made everything feel rushed and incomplete.

I arrived before 12:20 (for a 12:45 start) and was out by 2:05. For what I paid, I expected a much higher level of care, professionalism, and quality of service. I wanted to love this experience and support a local business, but I left feeling like I wasted my time and money.

I was so excited for the head spa and was completely let down. The building is not well mark and neither is the actual spa. Was let in to stand in their waiting room/shop while the room was readied. (Flooring is soft, but very uneven and bubbles up). I emailed them 2 days prior to my appointment with questions and never received a reply. The first 10min of appointment sounded like my head was next to a warming up Keurig (idk if it was the water heating up or what it was). Was never talked to during the experience to see how things were going (massage pressure, water temp, how the products felt, etc) or inform me what was happening. All products used on my hair/scalp were ice cold and uncomfortable. My hair was left brittle and dry once complete and my scalp tingled/burned hours later. I paid extra for a shoulder and neck massage which didn't last long and I was not asked what scent oil I wanted (was left smelling like a powdered grandma). Hot towels were put on my arms and hands that ended with them being freezing cold by the time they were removed. I had expected some type of facial mask/face massage from the description that did not happen. Just a cold stone like eye mask put on my face. The steam used was directed up my right nostril (if that's what it was, again, nothing was explained while it was happening). I had high hopes and was left very disappointed. My friend came in from North Carolina this past weekend and she's never had a facial. I booked us appointments and Jayden and Lexie knocked it out of the park. Both girls were 100% professional, beautiful, sweet and exceeded all expectations. I had been to other med spas in the past and this place was by far my BEST experience!! I will be booking many more services and appointments with them. If you're stuck on a gift for that special someone this is the gift that won't let them down. Don't walk RUN and I promise you will be the top gift giver this holiday season. This spa is affordable and worth EVERY penny!!
