Lake Buchanan / Inks Lake Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Center — Local services in Burnet

We stumbled upon this gem while out on one of our weekly road trips in the Texas Hill Country. The two gentlemen (volunteers?) were both very congenial and supplied us with the information we needed. While there, we had a picnic on the lovely deck behind the building that had a nice view and very clean, modern picnic tables. They had a selection of cold soft drinks for sale that we availed ourselves of (where else can you buy a drink for a buck?). Thank you gents for your true Texas friendliness; we shall return to say hello next time we pass your way....

If you visiting the Buchanan dam for first time I would recommend visiting the information center while on way. Visitor center is located on the main road very next to Buchanan dam. The view of the dam is so good from the information center. Staff is very friendly and courteous to provide information about the dam and the blue bonnet season coming up in spring. Lake Buchanan's Visitor Center serves travelers with Texas and Hill Country maps and brochures, with information on recreational opportunities such as fishing tournaments, and boating, with information on educational tours, and area history.
