Village Barn Country Store — Local services in Burrillville

We found this store last year and were eager to return this season, to see how we could add to our holiday collections. We found a braided kitchen rug, lantern and candle to accessorize. When we stated we wanted the candle to go inside the lantern, and the owner removed it from the display and put in a box, no price was ever stated. I never thought to ask. I paid the invoice, and when I got to the car and saw the price I paid for 3 items, I was in disbelief. The candle alone was more than $59. When we saw we had no itemized bill, just the receipt total, my partner returned to the store and stated he wanted to return the candle as he was never told the price and certainly didn't feel it was worth $60.00. We were told it was a final sale. Period. No ownership at all for that they mislead on their pricing. A second interesting fact, when I was cashing out, was that I was charged more money for the lantern I was purchasing than what the tag represented! Apparently, they had repriced items in their store inconsistently and were frankly not charging what was on the sale ticket, but what they had upsold the item for! Can you imagine being treated so poorly? In addition to the item we purchased, we were looking at a lamp. In the back of the store it was priced at $89. and in the middle to front of the store, the same lamp was priced $99. Last year we purchased the very same lamp for $69.!!! Business may be good, as we heard them confirm in conversation with another customer, but they've lost very enthusiastic customers with their shifty...

Customer service is.....well, lackingand a one star rating is a few too many. Tried to make a valid dealer to dealer purchase that seemed impossible for them to fathom or accommodate in any way. Apparently they don't believe its possible for other dealers to make and execute out of State purchases or for other dealers to arrange their own pick up and deliveries. Where there's a will there's a way!

Moving on, there are plenty of other small businesses to support! Sweet Salvage, The Find and Brown & Hopkins and plenty more close by! Merry Christmas and Happy...

LOVE IT! There's some really cool and unique pieces, and so much in so many different rooms that it's impossible to see everything in a full day! I've been there about 4-5 times now and between them constantly changing inventory I'm amazed at what I see every visit. The owners (and their families) are the nicest, extremely helpful and just all around the perfect people to own any business! . ...I'll always check in to see what's new and like to visit at the same time!
