I canât say enough about how fantastic this place is. We are here from the west side Florida where there arenât any drive in theaters. I was so excited to experience this with my family. We had an absolute blast. Saw Thunderbolts it is a great movie. Going back this weekend to see The Accountant 2. The grounds are well kept super clean and in a great location . The sunset there was beautiful. Definitely a 10/10. And we will go see all of the new movies there. A great place to unlock core childhood memories and make new ones with mine family.
We have seen 5 movies since it has opened this year heading back tomorrow to see another one.
A Piece of American History During the golden era of the 1970s and â80s, there were over 4,000 drive-in movie theaters across the United States. They were icons of leisure, freedom, and affordable family entertainment. Fast-forward to today, and fewer than 300 remain in operation. Thatâs less than 10% of what once was.
Most of those that closed did so due to land redevelopment, digital conversion costs, or simply dwindling attendance in the streaming era. But the Silver Bow Twin defied those odds. It's been a beacon of community spirit, holding strong while others fell silent. And itâs not just survivingâitâs thriving, thanks to the loyal locals and visitors who understand its magic.
A Sunset Worth the Price Alone If you're lucky enough to catch a double feature at the Silver Bow, youâll also witness one of the most breathtaking sunset backdrops in the West. The golden-hour glow over the Pintler Range and surrounding hills is something even Hollywood couldnât replicate. It's no wonder that for many, the movie is only half the reason they come.
A Community Anchor Under Threat Now, this treasured spot faces an uncertain future. Rezoning efforts in Silver Bow County threaten to shut it down, potentially handing over the land to industrial or commercial development. If allowed to happen, we wonât just lose a theaterâwe'll lose a gathering place, a thread of our cultural fabric, and a rare escape from a world that moves too fast.
Why It Matters Drive-ins like the Silver Bow represent more than nostalgia. They are one of the last forms of truly inclusive, accessible, outdoor entertainment. You donât need a tuxedo or a subscriptionâyou just need a blanket, a truck bed, and someone to share popcorn with. In a world thatâs increasingly divided and digitized, the Silver Bow remains wonderfully analog and deeply human.
Final Reel So if you havenât yet experienced the Silver Bow Twin Drive-In, nowâs the time. Go for the movies, stay for the sunset, and leave with a memory. And if youâre a local, speak upâsupport it, advocate for it, fight for it. Because once itâs gone, weâre not just losing a movie screenâweâre losing a view, a voice, and a piece of...
Read morePaid over $100 and was harassed by employees. Literally sitting there watching the previews with my kids when some random dude on a scooter shows up "Oh you're getting a bunch of complaints, you need to be quiet.."...when there was literally NO ONE near me, like a white car, that's it, and I guarantee the people in the white car didn't care...and it's 5 MINUTES into the previews...
The Silver Bow drive-in USED to be one of the best experiences out there, but not anymore as it has completely changed. "Cash-only" yet they don't post that on their website or anything. They no longer provide actual audio to their movies. Do they tell you this in advance? No they don't. Then on top of it you get harassed by some random dude on a scooter.
I have no absolutely no clue why they think they're so "privileged"...it makes ZERO sense...you USED to provide a great experience, now you pay $100 to get harassed in a thunder storm with no audio by some kid on...
Read moreEvery summer, usually a couple times a summer, we drive an hour and a half to bring our boys here so that they will have this experience as they grow up. We all love it! We like to pack the camp chairs and a few blankets and pop the hatchback (we tie it down so it doesn't block others view) to enjoy the show. Most movie goers stay in their car, why I have no idea. There are no bugs and even on a hot day the temp usually drops to mid to high 60's by showtime. They use real butter on their popcorn and are friendly as can be. Don't be a jerk and bring in outside food, they'll cook you a tombstone pizza and have a whole assortment of movie candy and other snacks (at way better prices than you'll pay at the movie theater). If you're lucky you might catch a shooting star while enjoying the latest summer blockbuster. We are so lucky to have this place, we are happy to be loyal...
