Are there so many things I could say about this shop but I'm going to try and make it short and sweet... The that own it and work there are very lovely.. also the HIP BEE guys were there as well and we chatted and had a nice little meet and greet... Read moreI simply cannot express how lovely Coos Canyon Rock & Gift is. Not only do they have a huge collection of beautiful stones and handmade jewelry, they stock plenty of "oh no, we forgot the _!!" products for any traveler. There are also TONS of delightful Maine souvenirs!
But let's put that aside for a minute: Rosey, the absolutely stellar woman manning the counter (and I assume proprietor?) saved our bacon today. We got a flat tire down the road, on Sunday at 4:45pm, with no cell service and no spare tire - if you aren't familiar with the area, it's literally miles to any town. A kind passerby raced to alert Rosey that we were in distress and - even though she'd just locked the door and was on her way home - spent the next TWO HOURS helping us. Rosey called a tow, she called the campground, cancelled an unnecessary taxi, texted and arranged with everyone to make sure we were safe and set up, drove us and our luggage to the campground HERSELF...and did it without a murmur of complaint. Her personality is absolutely one-of-a-kind. She told us with a laugh this happens "all the time" and "I just can't abandon people who need help." We can never, ever thank her enough. The world needs more Roseys.
Visit Coos Canyon Rock & Gift, y'all. Support a local Maine business and amazing people like Rosey - ideally...

The knowledgeable woman I had the pleasure to talk with, her family has been there since I believe, the early 40's. Very good place to bring the family, for a nice, different type of adventure. And don't forget to go across the road and take a look at the waterfalls. Well worth a...
