So I've lived in this area for a while now and every few weeks or so I drive to the Shady Maple Farm Market (yes, the one in front of the massive smorgasbord). I've driven past Hoover's for years and have never gone in until recently.
I'm happy I corrected that mistake finally.
You might not notice from Rt. 23 but they sell garden statues and containers. Ok, so in reality if you didn't notice this from the street then you're not on Rt. 23 and you're not driving past the enormous array of concrete statues and containers. You can't miss it! What I was surprised at is the relatively decent quality and variety. These are cast and appear to be pulled from the mold with just minor detail cleanup so don't expect a museum or Longwood Gardens quality piece but with a little DIY skill and patience you can make it your own. They have everything from lions to turtles to foxes to kids sitting on benches (ok I will admit some of those were downright creepy, maybe I'll get a couple for Halloween). So yes they have statues and containers in abundance.
They also have fresh produce and it's all delicious. Bought a basket of tomatoes from them and gave about half of it away and everyone enjoyed them, so much so that they want more. They have baked goods too, mostly cookies but I haven't tried those yet. Try the homemade root beer at tour own risk, I didn't like it but that doesn't mean that someone else won't love it, it just wasn't my thing.
Did I mention that they have a large assortment of plants, annuals, perennials, fruits and vegetable plants as well.
Stop in on your next trip to Shady Maple, you won't be disappointed. Oh and look around the store for the fairy garden houses. We got a few nice ones there with solar lights for my mom's...
Read moreI stopped at Hoover's during their shutdown for the season because of the lawn statue of a Lion that I wanted to see up close. I was so moved by the beauty of this statue that I called Hoover's hoping to learn the price. A woman said stone would come there to help me. When this person told me the price I asked if I could buy it now or pay for it now and wait Hoover's reopened. He said I could buy and take it now. I can't say enough how happy I am with the help and service Hoover's gave to me during their off-season. They have tons of beautiful...
Read moreKatie and Jonas Hoover have a wonderful farm stand near the B&B my wife and I frequent in Terre Hill, PA. I’m proud to support local small businesses. The fact that they’re salt of the earth makes it even better! Much of the produce is from their own farm, but there’s always plenty of extras they bring from the nearby Weaver Farm Auction. Their prices are unbelievable. I only wish we lived nearby so I could go there every day to buy for the...
