Main Street Calico Rock — Local services in Calico Rock

Since I was showing property in the area, we stayed in Calico Rock just over the hill from Main Street. I’m glad we checked this museum out. I figured it would like a lot of small town museums, small…boring…not very creative but we were pleasantly surprised the information, artifacts, displays, etc were very tastefully and creatively displayed. I enjoyed each one of the scenes. I liked that the local artisans work (within 50 miles) are on display for sale. It’s great to support them by purchasing their products. Downstairs has some fun activities for the kids to do. Did I mention it’s free? Be sure to sign their guest book so they are able to continue to receive their grants! Great job Calico Rock! Honestly, we didn't expect much from a small town museum but we were pleasantly blown away. We stopped in because we saw a flyer for Talking Walls which we thought was pretty cool. They have this amazingly realistic, historical town under that building! The people who put that together really have eyes for what will engage others. This was an amazing little treasure to find on our move across the country. So many little nooks with displays and information. Amazing even for my preschoolers! History came to life for all of us, so much more imaginable. Also the interactive science section was well-loved by the kids.
