Hello, I attended the June 12, 2016 race this year. I have went a handful of times over the years. The first thing I noticed was the road was blocked off to the track (we were on the road out of Brooklyn) and we were directed to pull into a parking lot at that point and (purple) shuttled to the track. I liked it. My suggestion is to have MORE SHUTTLES especially at the END of the race when patrons are LEAVING THE TRACK at approximately the same time! We waited 45 minutes or so (in the Cedar Point type roped lines) compared to before the race when people are arriving at many more varied times and we didn't even wait 5 minutes for a shuttle. Secondly, there is NO shade. It is usually very, very hot on race days and the only places to get out of the sun is in one of the fan stores or under the stands. Cutting into the asphalt jungle and planting rows of shade trees would be beneficial and give it a more appealing atmosphere. And, I STRONGLY suggest more seating (chairs/benches) under the stands and on the outside of the gate! I need to sit down more often these days as my health has dictated. Plus, there is hardly anywhere to sit to enjoy any food I may purchase from a vendor/concession, to get out of the sun, to enjoy the atmosphere of a big stadium, or to get a rest from all the walking and walking from place to place. I am not ready to go up in the stands to sit until the drivers are starting to be announced (walking up all those steps is a massive effort!) On that note, a heads up on the loud speakers for the start of the proceedings BEFORE they happen would be great. Fans out milling around that want to see the pre-race festivities, inside the track, would have a chance to know when they want to head to their seats in the stands. Maybe starting 40 minutes before the pre-race announcements and every 10 minutes. I also heard many mentions of the dissatisfaction of the fan superstore shopping. The stores for each driver is awesome! People were commenting on how they liked the trailers for each driver better (although you had to stand in line and in the sun.) The stores so small, crowded, and had a lack of sufficient lighting. No one liked having to walk over to the "checkout." They want to just pick up their merchandise, pay, and go on their way. I hope you consider all these remarks to help improve fan...
Read moreMy husband and I just attended our very first Nascar race here this past wknd, June 12, 2016. Although I have been a fan of Nascar for 20 yrs, I have only watched on TV so knew nothing of the in-person, live experience. Nothing beats it!! Your track was lovely! The views were amazing! Your staff was kind. I would give you five stars if it were not for your lack of handicap ease/accessibility. Although I loved being seated at the tippy top of the track, we were told on the phone by our ticket agent at your speedway, there was an elevator, not 20 plus ramps to walk!!! Please remember, not all handicap ppl have wheelchairs or scooters! Some of us are stubburn and are not at that place where we are ready to give in and succumb to being in one yet or have other conditions that do not require one but prevent us from walking up & down 20 plus ramps. While it was nice you had volunteers available to wheel ppl such as myself all the way up with speedway provided wheelchairs, I missed the start of the race due to how many ppl were waiting before me (no one's fault), but please do not claim you have an elevator for handicapped folks when you do not. Also, there are no bathrooms and or food vendors near the top, closest ones are on deck 32 or 34 ? (halfway down), so again, someone like me with no wheelchair or scooter was either stuck in their seat the entire time or had to suck it up and hobble up and down. Also, we had pit passes but had to go through a fan tunnel (all fine and well until I got to all the stairs at either end). If there was another way to get through or around that for handicapped folks, no one informed us.
Please consider making some handicapped accessible changes to make the race experience that much more pleasurable for ppl such as myself and for those who accompany us who have to worry the whole time and or stress about our health with the current set-up. Perhaps taking out some row seating between lvls 32-34 and adding some ramps would be better or even just investing in an elevator only accessible for those who are ederly or handicapped? Thank you to your lovely staff who did as much as they could to help! We still had a...
Read moreWent to the NASCAR Race at the speedway. Traffic took about 20-30 minutes to get into the parking lot. Lot was free to park in. We walked a short distance to the tram, and it brought us to the track. We were section 15, the middle parts split between evens and odds so that was really weird to try and figure out for a first timer. Bathrooms were okay, not super clean or nice but were there. The race was fun, vendors are superrrr expensive tho and it’s hot everywhere. There is zero cell service but they do have WiFi to connect to.
When we went to leave, we exited the other side of the track than what we came in on, (we were in the middle, section 15, so we didn’t think it mattered) However when leaving we asked a couple of safety workers, information workers and police officers where we get on the tram and they kept pointing us into a direction. No trams stopped anywhere along the route we kept being pointed to, and we ended up walking 1.6 miles until we finally found our car. Even asked a couple trams that were driving by us if they could help us get to our lot or let us know where to go and they said they were going the other direction and couldn’t help & To “just keep going”. One guy even looked shocked when I said we were trying to get to lot 8. When we finally got to the car and tried to leave we couldn’t turn out of the track the way we needed to in order to get to a highway. My gps kept re-routing and every time it did we would be blocked by another cop that said we were not allowed to go that way and had to go the opposite direction. I begged and pleaded with a couple of them to please help us because I was trying to just get back onto the highway, as my kid was feeling sick from the heat and having to walk. There was no help from anyone for a solution. It took 1/4 tank of gas and 1.5 hours until we finally were able to find a way that wasn’t blocked off and got us to a highway. I felt defeated after this is experience! I highly doubt I will ever be...
