Larry Riffle is a wonderful potter. I love going to his shop in Cowen, West Virginia. He has made mugs for my Gillum House Bed & Breakfast is Shinnston, West Virginia - and i came back for more. Each mug was hand-turned by Larry - and signed Riffle Pottery, Cowen, WV. He made them the way I wanted - big enough to be a CUP of coffee with a handle large enough for a MAN to grasp without burning his fingers. Larry came through.

I also have a lovely vase he made - it sits at the top of my staircase with an arrangement in it. He also make face mugs with kind faces, not ugly ones (I bought one for my husband). he also had a whimsy day, and made butt mugs that are hilarious! Whether you are looking for dinnerware, vases, mugs, containers, pots, He has even made some napkin rings for me - I cannot wait to get them!

Shop was not opened when we arrived. Larry's wife came out, gave us his number and said to call. So..we did and within 5 minutes he was there with a smile to open the doors to his wonderful shop. He asks "you want the tour first or shop". We were so surprised, got the tour along with Larry's interesting stories of pottery and history alike. Beautiful working pottery in his store. Thoroughly enjoyed our day....for out of staters, the drive was well...

We love this place. You can spend hours just browsing and Larry’s stories and history are a plus. He does a beautiful job on his handcrafted projects. We highly recommend this place and please stop by and see it. So many interesting things to see! Including a fossilized turtle and dinosaur tooth! How cool is that?? You can even order things your way if he doesn’t have it. Like my dragonfly coffee mug. 💜 please...
