It is both disheartening and unfortunate when reviews are written at such emotional moments as negative reviews, many of which were created based on once-sided experiences, have such an impact on the trajectory of an entire company. Oak Grove Realty Services brings families together while also allowing hard workers to support families of their own. It is a pleasure assisting with every resident and family and while we welcome all feedback, positive or negative, it would be remiss to not clarify a few of the top concerns that have been consistently mentioned. Oak Grove Realty Services is based out of Minnesota. Cinnamon Pointe of Canton, MI is a community that we are very proud of. Alas, we are proud to have acquired a staff with a combined 30 years leasing/management experience and 35 years maintenance/grounds keeping experience. CP management has completed a specialty training program at our corporate location which focuses in consistency, fairness and enforcement of Oak Grove policies and procedures which deems our managers the ability to handle any and all resident related dependencies and decisions. In the event that the corporate office needs to be contacted, managers are appointed to be the professional liaison between resident and corporate in order to avoid confusion or losses in translation. Once all correspondence is received and a decision is reached, management residents are notified of the decision.Managers are hired to maintain order, fairness and enforcement of Oak Grove process ad procedures. The Fair Housing Act is a law enacted as part of civil rights legislation that prohibits discrimination of home sales, rentals and financing based on race, color, national origin, religion, sex, familial status or those with disabilities. Oak Grove and CP has specific guidelines, requirements process and procedures all of which are a part of the residential leasing agreement. All residents are strongly encouraged to read and ask questions regarding their lease contract and additional addendums prior to signing. Unfortunately, this is not always the case and causes a lot of confusion for some residents. Oak Grove policies remain consistent for every single resident and there are no exceptions as to remain compliant with the law at all times. For example, Michigan security deposit law (which is accessible for all to review) has been established, strongly enforced and followed with no exceptions at CP. Cinnamon Pointe is a community that offers a clean, quality product in a beautiful location with unique accommodations and firm consistency for the fairness and safety of the community. This property gets ZERO stars. I've lived here for a year and a half and until now have not had any problems. I've paid my rent on time and I'm a quiet resident. Then, about a month ago I get a notice of non-payment of rent for a random amount that I have no idea where it came from. I called the property hundreds of times and no one answered. Finally, some guy told me the property manager was very busy and it might take her a while to get back with me. When I finally was able to speak with Lynn, she said she didn't know the breakdown of the amount, but she'd send a ledger over to my apartment. Well, I'm not a property manager and I have no idea how to read a ledger. As a property manager, she should be able to decipher and communicate the breakdown. So, I emailed her and said I don't understand and I need an itemized list. She simply replied with the ledger, but highlighted some random numbers that I don't understand and don't add up. I did point out there was a double app fee charge, and she said that would bring the amount down by $50. I once again asked that she provide an itemized list and also some of the items on the ledger looked incorrect, as in I had already paid for it. There is also a random $135 paint fee, which I have no clue where that came from as it was never included in any lease documents or communicated via email or verbally. So, I went to pay my rent on May 1, and they REJECT the payment because they want this month's rent + the past due amount which is clearly incorrect. So, they are threatening eviction and legal action if I do not pay in full. Also, they are charging me a late fee for the rent that they will accept. So, a past due amount of $287 has no turned into me owing them almost $1500, they will not accept my rent and water payment, and are trying to use legal scare tactics to get me to cough up money which I do not believe I owe. DO NOT LIVE HERE. Management is terrible, they avoid and ignore your calls, they have NO idea what they are doing...it's not worth the headache. I can't wait to move out in September as this has left a total bad taste in my mouth and given me unnecessary stress and anxiety. Sure, the units are nice, but there are plenty of nice units in Canton for a comparable price with way better management. I'm hoping that me taking action by reporting them to the Better Business Bureau and leaving comments that tell the truth about how they run their property will prompt them to be better communicators and work with me to find a resolution instead of just threatening to take me to court. However, I'd gladly go to court to dispute these shady business acts as I have plenty of proof and documentation regarding their erroneous fees and proof of what I have paid. I work hard for my money and I refuse to just cough it up to some phony...

I moved into Pointe at Canton in May 2021 and I lived in this apartment for 2years. Here is my Pros and Cons from my experience based on:

Live in 2 bed / 2 bath apartment home (Approx. 1,000 sqf.) 1st floor Non-upgraded apartment room

Over all, I like living here so far and I think the Pointe at Canton is a nice apartment to live, but I only put 3 star at this time base on my experience at the Pointe at Canton.

Pros: Friendly and professional leasing office staff. Good communication and very supportive. Great location. Close to grocery stores, restaurants, and easy to access to Freeway I-275 (Ford Rd and also Michigan Ave.) Very good and quiet neighborhood and safe community. Almost good floor layout. Apartment facility (club house, pools, and fitness center) and buildings are well maintained.

Cons: Seriously NOT enough storage space and kitchen cabinet. Many of neighbor not following a trash rule. Many trash bins and sometime trashes are on the driveaway all the time that makes our community looks bad and also smells bad too. Parking are little challenging. If you get a car garage, you will be nothing worry about it. If not, it will be challenging to find a good parking spot. Non-emergency maintenance request process is super slow. (I am told due to short hand, so, you will have to be very patient.) I am hoping this situation will be solved soon. Rusty surface fridge. - I get the non-upgrade apartment room, so I am not expecting to receive a brand new stuff, but I am unhappy about only this. I complained this when I moved-in and they touch-painted the where rusty area. Beside the rust condition, the fridge works well, so I have to use it, but this is not over $1,300/month apartment condition. I lived many apartment in the different states, but I never had rusty surface fridge until now. I assume this is the rare case and I hope nothing similar condition at the other non-upgraded apartment rooms.

I also want to put a note that a cell phone signal is super weak inside my apartment room as well as outside of the apartment building. I have Verizon, so not sure about AT&T, T-Mobile, and other carrier has same issue or not. I know this is nothing property management can control, but I just wanted to share...
