My 19 year old son purchased a truck from Dexter on November 25th, 2022. Within 8 days he noticed that the truck driving weird and lurching out of gear. He contacted Dexter right away and recommended that my son have the truck serviced. He took it to a reputable mechanic in Decorah. They diagnosed that the transmission was going bad and would need to be replaced. My son discussed these finding with Dexter. Dexter tells my son that he himself is not a ‘tranny guy’ but he really questions if it is a transmission issue and recommends having a second opinion. My son takes it to a certified Chevy dealership. They drive it around and service the truck now for the second time since my son purchased the truck less than a month ago. They too come back with the grim report that the transmission is going out and needs to be replaced. My son discusses these findings with Dexter, he is still not convinced that it’s a transmission issue. Before my son has even made his first payment on his new vehicle he has paid for having the truck serviced not once but twice in less than month and ordered a new transmission. I just bought a car today at Amherst Auto for my son's first vehicle. The only reason they only have 5 stars is because it won't let me put more on here. 10 out of 10 business. This was the easiest process I have ever had for buying a vehicle in my life. Dexter and Heather were very responsive, polite, knowledgeable and honest. Everything I expected from the vehicle was accurate and as advertised, including the price they posted, right down to the penny. They are a wonderful team and business. Very happy with truck and how I was treated. First he answered the phone and answered all my questions with knowledgeable answers. Sent me detailed pictures of anything that I asked for including the under side of the truck. This was very important to me because I am 8 hours away. I flew there and when I got to the dealership he had the truck in the heated garage so I could inspect it. It was 8 degrees outside. He also met me an hour before he opened which enabled me to get on the road to get home sooner. The truck was exactly as he described. No surprises when I got there which is uncommon anymore. .
