I've shopped Crowell's since I was a little boy. I'm embarrassed to reveal that about age 8--penniless--I was caught shop lifting a pack of gum by the owner. All he did was take back the pack and point to the cop on the street outside. Warning enough!
Now a Richdale shop, I find the staff always pleasant and the array of products remarkable w/ both inexpensive goods and "high end." It typically has two check-out clerks so there's rarely more than one or two shoppers ahead of you--even at rush hour.
There are standard gas station stores just north of I-93 / Rt 128 at Exit 2B. However, if you seek a convenience store with a wider assortment, take Exit 2A. Richdale is less than a mile on the right.
I read JOHN SMITH's review. He's factually incorrect regarding the liquor dept: Tho I drink only occasionally, the liquor dept has always struck me as providing a HUGE selection.
As for John's "unhelpful staff." I wonder how many times he's been there. What's his sample size? I've been to Crowells / Richdale literally dozens of times over many years. Some staff are more talkative, but over all they have been unfailingly FRIENDLY.
