The Haunted House with a GENIUS line system. (basically not even a line at all!)
I’m extremely picky about haunted houses and this one really impressed me. When you arrive, they give you and your group a number, and that’s your spot. You’re not mixed with strangers or sent in with random people, it’s just you and your friends the entire way through, which makes it way scarier and more personal. Other haunted houses combine you in large groups and you practically miss half the scares depending on where you are in the group. This literally felt like you and your friends are in a movie by yourselves.
While you wait for your number to be called, you can hang out around a big fire, grab snacks and drinks, or watch a movie on their outdoor screen. It doesn’t even feel like waiting it literally feels like part of the experience. Then when your number is called over the microphone, you head up and get sent into the haunted house with your friends.
What makes Demon House truly different is that it’s not about flashy animatronics or overproduced scenes which is a HUGE pet peeve of mine, (ex. hundred acres manor nothing wrong with it it’s just not my style) it’s actor-driven horror from start to finish. There are so many live actors, and they’re intense, unpredictable, and everywhere. It feels like someone’s going to pop out at any second versus just admiring the set. It’s so hard to find a haunted house that has a ton of actors and real people nowadays and this one has it. All of the actors were extremely professional and put on a great performance! There was no kids as actors or like unprofessional people, it was all people you could tell really enjoyed their jobs. One of personal favorites was the fortune teller in the very beginning, she did a great job at setting the tone and she really did creep me out. She also did great talking to us and staying in character and thinking fast for a response. Another favorite of mine was the lady at the very end who was a witch I believe and she did a very good job at her scene and ended it off very well. Chainsaw was great too, scared me twice.
We also found out the owners have put a lot of heart into this place and I believe we were told they do all of the makeup on the actors. Besides it being a haunted house, the house is truly gorgeous! Overall, from the moment we stepped in and stepped out, I feel like we were in there for about 25 minutes and that’s with me speed walking through most of it. We hung out after and watched a movie in their theater for free and then headed back. The prices here are amazing for what you get truly. I have been to so many haunted houses and these prices included a fire, movies, 1 drink, admission to the house and shuttle to and from the parking lot. I got my tickets on groupon and paid $16 per ticket for that.
Truly great place and I hope they had a great season. Will definitely be returning with...
Read moreFirst time visitor's last night. My girlfriend, her 4 yr old son, her mom and myself.
Parking: You more than likely will need to park at Spartan Health. If you use GPS to take you to the haunt actual adress, you will be told you need to turn around and go back down the road. The signs for the parking lot are very easy to miss if you are not familiar with the area!! We got in line to wait for the one and only short bus that shuttles people back and forth at 7:25pm. There's no real social distancing in the line but most people had their masks on. When you're pretty close to the front they take your temperature. The lot worker told us last minute that you're NOT aloud to bring purses, backpacks, food or drinks over to the haunt. So plan ahead for that. We waited just about 2 hours for the shuttle.
The "other" side: Once you arrive you'll walk up and short uneven driveway, get your temperature taken again and you'll pay once you get to the top. At 9:30 all the "express -$30" and the "express -$40" were sold out. We were group 89 and they were on group 37. We were told the wait time would be around 45-60 minutes which was pretty accurate. There are a couple stands to buy thing's, two fire pits, some picnic tables, benches to sit on, a huge screen that was playing The Shining. There's a hut of sorts to buy food and drinks. It's CASH ONLY for food and drinks and the line's were pretty long. So if you want to get something to eat or drink I would suggest getting in line as soon as possible. They ring a bell and announce the next group when it's time.
The Haunt: We only made it half way through cause the young one got really scared/freaked out by "The Butcher" pretty early on. We managed to go through some more of the rooms but unfortunately had to cut it off about halfway through. But from what we did experience it's worth the wait and the price! The actor's do a great job and take their job seriously and really get into character!! Would love to go back to go through the...
Read moreAlways love going here! First let me say that in general (covid or no covid) I am someone who doesn't like when people (in line behind me) are so close it feels like they're standing on my back or breathing on my neck. I like some general space in between me and the next person... That being said -- there wasn't any space in between me and the people behind me. Thankfully, the people in charge made an announcement that everyone had to back up, and I was no longer to be hugged from behind lol... Anyway, Demom House has amazing actors and does not fill their haunted attraction with girls that scream for help which I really appreciate. You go through the house, through a small part outside, then in to a small shack to watch an execution by electric chair ❤. They give you a free drink with admission, have an outdoor movie theater playing scary movies, fire pits, and souvenirs to purchase. You will have a great time!! They make you wear a mask the whole time, and you go through the house in your own separate group to stay safe (in case anyone is worried). They take all precautions since they were already fined 10k for someone not wearing a mask. If you go to any haunted house this year I must say the Demon House would be an...
