I'm 31 weeks pregnant and I recently had to change providers because my doctor moved. We decided to go with Dr. Jones because we have only heard wonderful things about him and the OB Department in Carthage. The original hospital I went to never sent over my ultrasound photos to Dr. So the doctor wanted me to go to the hospital to do one just to make sure everything looked good. My dr appt was scheduled for 2pm in which they wanted me to show up at 1:45 with a full bladder. When we get there( my mom, my 4 year old son, and my fiancé) they said there was an emergency and it was a half an hour wait. No big deal. I get that things happen. It's now 2:40 and I'm about to pee my pants. Worst pain in the world. I go back to the check in to say that I can't hold it any longer and there is no one there. 3pm rolls around and finally someone is there and they have no idea how much longer my wait will be but to go ahead and relieve myself a little bit. I do just that! 3:20 rolls around and it's finally my time. The ultrasound technician never introduced herself..never smiled..and never apologized for the wait. She starts the ultrasound and doesn't like how full my bladder was and asked me to go to the bathroom. Annoying but whatever. I was told to hold it. I come back-and as she is looking at the baby..doesn't explain a damn thing she is looking at. I don't see the baby's face..ANYTHING. I got to see a closed fist and it's nostrils. The whole experience of seeing my baby was awful. So, after the ultrasound she wanted to do a different procedure to check my cervix. Her whole demeanor changed and she told me to get dressed and she would be calling Dr. she didn't like what she saw. Gone for half an hour. Had me completely worried. Sent another nurse in to say that she would be back when she could. When she comes back in she tells me everything is fine and I can go. Won't answer any questions. Rude and automatically started cleaning up the room while we were in there. I just kept asking, -"I'm okay, you are sure I'm okay?" I never got a response-she just kept going about her business to get us out of there. And don't think I don't understand that she couldn't tell me anything but there is a way to go about bad news. She could have seen what she saw and had the dr call me with any concerns. She never reassured me at all. AND with all the ultrasounds I have had(this being my second child) I have ALWAYS had a picture to be sent home with. I received nothing. Worst experience I have EVER HAD. I'm more than disappointed with a wasted day. And I truly believed there was something wrong with me for over half an hour-which resulted in me calling my Drs office to get the reassurance I needed. All I have ever been told were wonderful things about Carthage. This was a...
Read moreI took my daughter to the ER because she had a high fever, and wasn’t eating or drinking. The nurse brought in a nose swab to test for rsv, Covid etc and handed it to my 6 year old to do herself… Then she kept taking my daughter’s temp under her arm and saying it was 98/100. My daughter was shaking and crying because she didn’t feel good. They were discharging us and a different nurse came in and took her vitals for the last time. He took her temp 3 times, both in her ear and on her forehead. Her temp was 102.5. Then the female nurse came back (literally one minute later) and put her temp down as 100. They sent us home with her fever not responding to Tylenol and she was dehydrated. They said just come back if her fever gets worse or she needs fluids. I took her temp right when we got home and it was 103 still.
When we got home, I gave her more Tylenol and put cold wash cloths on her. She fell asleep. Fast forward a couple hours later, she wakes up screaming saying she can’t move her head. She said her head hurts. I took her back out to the ER. She still had a fever. The nurse shrugged it off and said it was probably just her having a dream. Then I hear another nurse in the hallway talking to the doctor saying I’ve “obviously never dealt with a kid with a fever before.” Then the doctor comes in and barely listens to anything I have to say. He leans back against the counter and laughs and says “well I guess she’s just sick then.” I got my daughter and we left. The nurse gave us a sarcastic sad face on our way out the door. I’ll never take my children to Memorial Hospital again or any of the doctors associated with them. Super disrespectful.
Here’s the temps they took literally within a minute of each other and lied about! They never put the higher temperatures in their system, then sent us home with a 102.5...
Read moreI went to Carthage memorial hospital on Saturday May 3, 2025. I woke up in the morning with the entire right side of my face so swollen that I couldn't speak or open my right eye without severe pain. I had 2 abscess teeth. I have Illinois Medicaid (Molina) and was told that they do not accept Molina so, they gave me a prescription for antibiotics and a shot of toradol in my arm and sent me on my way. Not one person touched me (except the intake nurse taking my vitals). The doctor came in, stood a good 4 feet from me and declined to feel the infected jawline or let me show him the tooth. They hurried me out of the er and told me I could find a ride home and wait for the ride in the waiting room. My condition is not any better today, and seems to be getting worse, than it was when I went to the hospital yesterday morning. I was admitted to the very same hospital almost a year ago for the same thing. My stay was 5 days and I had the same insurance at that time. I was very near going completely septic at that time and, of course, I'm concerned about the same thing happening this time! There was no compassion this time. No advice as to where I should go. That are the only hospital near me and it's 35 miles away! There was no examination. No blood drawn. NOTHING! How does an ILLINOIS hospital NOT accept ILLINOIS Medicaid? Why does the specific plan matter??? It's the hospital's location (ILLINOIS) Also, I was forced to change from the Aetna plan over a year ago because my pharmacy would not accept the Aetna plan. I chose Carthage because last year, when I was hospitalized for the same exact thing, they were so good. The nurses, especially! The emergency room doctor's name was Delrosario...
