My recent visit was marred by an unwelcoming and uncomfortable environment that blatantly displayed a lack of support for Black employees. As Falonda, a Black employee, was serving and ringing me up, her Caucasian colleague—a heavier-set woman in a red Halloween costume—monitored her every move. I openly asked if this colleague was the manager, and Falonda responded that she was not. When I questioned why Falonda was being scrutinized, this colleague briefly stepped away only to return moments later, continuing to police our conversation as though she was waiting for a misstep.
This scrutiny extended even to my handling of cash, with both the woman in red and a white male customer observing closely as I paid and reached for the tip jar. Such intense monitoring felt like an attempt to criminalize Falonda competence and integrity, as though her work was inherently suspect. No one should feel entitled to monitor another person as if they are superior, yet that’s exactly the behavior I witnessed.
Supremacy is alive and well at this establishment, and this toxic environment undoubtedly takes a toll on Black employees, as it does on Black patrons like myself. Businesses that fail to value the contributions of Black employees, allowing supremacy and entitlement to go unchecked, contribute to an atmosphere that can be mentally and emotionally exhausting. Suppressing this type of behavior in the past has personally led me to suicidal thoughts. This unwelcoming, hostile, and relentless scrutiny from white supremacists is a form of insidious violence that is killing Blacks and causing physical disease in our bodies. This type of behavior can be draining and creates a subtle but persistent form of emotional labor for those being watched. In this case, it’s likely a reflection of both insecurity and an ingrained sense of superiority, common in environments where there’s an undercurrent of bias or hierarchy based on race or perceived status. It’s frustrating when people let their egos get in the way of respect and collaboration, especially in environments where hierarchy isn’t even relevant to the interaction. That kind of arrogance—acting superior without justification—often reflects their own insecurities or need for control rather than any actual authority. Instead of fostering a positive, respectful atmosphere, this kind of behavior undermines the experience for everyone involved and fails to recognize the value that others bring.
And you’re absolutely right: life isn’t guaranteed. Using our time to support and uplift others, especially colleagues and customers, has a much greater impact than trying to assert unearned dominance. It speaks volumes about character when people choose respect and empathy over ego. Leaving this detailed, truthful review creates a record that can support any future grievances or concerns Falonda may have. It demonstrates that the issues she’s experiencing are visible to customers and not just her perspective. I am sounding the alarm on establishments like this and urge Black patrons not to support businesses that make us feel unwelcome.
While Falonda’s product recommendations were appreciated, this experience showed me that this establishment has little regard for its Black employees and customers. I cannot, in good conscience, support a business that allows such...
Read more09/25/25 Their selection has improved slightly, but still lacking in any good specials (on any given day it's almost all in house GDF/Codes) Rachel is great though! They stock some unique strains of Vibe concentrates, which is why I'd recommend at least giving the webpage a look over periodically Bump up to 4/5
Edit: 06/25/25 Falonda is great.
01/30/25 I genuinely like the people that work here, but all they carry is their brand and partners brands. There's no other brands like Elevate, Sinse, Local, Proper, etc..., but they do have Greenlight.......... and lately all the flower tastes, looks, and smells the same, as well as having super low terpenes. Recently I've been going the extra 8 miles for a better selection. For this reason I'm changing my review from a 5 to a 3.
Edit: 10/03/24 Falonda got me taken care of like a pro! She's always a pleasure to deal with, and I always see her helping other people out. I think she genuinely cares about the people that come through the door, wants to see them have the best experience, and educate them along the way.
CHECK OUT THEIR NEW STORE NEXT TO THE OLD ONE!! IT'S BEAUTIFUL AND AMAZING!!!!!
Edit 07/16/24 Alexis is a great budtender. She's always very helpful and very eager to hear about my experience with different strains. Very kind, and it's always a pleasure to have her help me make my purchases.
Edit: 06/14/24 Rachel the bud tender Rocks for sure!!! The whole team is feckin phenomenal!!! I can't say a bad thing about the customer service I've had, or even a single employee there. Very personal, friendly, knowledgeable; and always recommending the latest, greatest, or the best bang for your buck. They're almost in their new store, and if they can carry over this level of customer service, quality of product, competitive pricing and deals, then this location is bound to thrive.
Really liked the setup of this dispensary. The grand opening was amazing, the vendors were really friendly as well as all the employees that were there. Great products, and the staff was super attentive and made sure I was able to find what I wanted. Looking forward to...
Read moreSame experience I had at the Kennett store. I won't be back. I actually came inside, placed my order (in store) walked 10 feet to the register and still only got half the stuff I ordered. The website nor in store inventory menus are correct. The post products they don't have. When I questioned about my missing product. I got a simple answer. I didn't see that. We're out. So I became to ask about other products I seen on the in-store menu. Mind you I've already been checked out so my discounts were applied to that sale. None of the 10 other products I asked about were in stock. I feel like its false advertising just to get people in and the only products available were high dollar items. My last experience with Good Day Farm ended with a talk with a Federal agent at their Kennett store. I will travel the extra 15 mins to greenlight dispensary. At least the try to keep their online inventory up to date and will cancel your order if they are out of something. If I order in store they always have what their menu...
