Unc wellness center In West Cary is centrally locates and well maintained for the most part. Pros: rock wall!!! Kids love it. Friendly staff to help the kids and a fun activity during the week. Running track and equipment - a big thumbs up!!! Outdoor turf - great space for kids to play ball. Cons: class hours and space is limited. The pool area... Let me start by saying we have been there almost every single day last fall. However, the maintenance around the pool area needs attention. Rules are not always enforced and followed. Floor is somewhat yucky around the pool - depending on what time of the day you are there. A little attention to the pool area would make this facility 5Star!! Shout out to all the great people who work and support the members daily!

This gym is awesome! I had the pleasure of visiting my friends in NC the past few weeks and loved this gym. It is very low key and has plenty of equipment. Personal shoutout for the standing leg curl, I will not be getting over this soon and wish my gym had one! They also have an indoor track and pool. Clean and the 6am crew was fairly light so able to get an entire workout in without having to wait.

A very nice facility and all the equipment is well cared for and in working order in my experience. Indoor pool and track, plenty of cardio and weight machines, decent free weight area (not huge, but haven't run into any problems with it being crowded or waiting on equipment so far), and some individual training areas on the second floor with various weights, balls, mats, etc. I haven't used either, but there is also a climbing wall and massage services available onsite as well. The facility is clean, and there are plenty of sanitary stations around to clean equipment easily before and after use. Staff has been very kind and helpful in both general information and in instructor lead classes. Their website hosts an event calendar showing all the free member group exercise classes available (as well as more educational classes ranging from health education, Nutrition, and recovery specific clinics). I personally find the location convenient, and there is plenty of parking outside the facility. I've gone at a few different times during the week both around lunch and after work, and have not found it to be too crowded at any point. If it's important to you, on the whole a good mix of people going there across the spectrum of age, gender, and athletic ability, atmosphere is very judgment free so no worries on "being the odd one out". On the more expensive end of membership rates. $76 a month, with no long term contract, no enrollment fee, and can cancel at anytime. You also get 6 free 1 day guest passes a year. Membership comes with a free fitness evaluation with a certified trainer and 30min consultion with a registered dietician, also gives you access to the UNC Meadowmont facility in Chapel Hill. Their website does a good job of highlighting the facility features and amenities, and membership rates and benefits. Overall I have been very happy using this facility and recommend checking it out in person if you are interested to get a good feel for it yourself prior to joining, as enrollment is all...

I was seeking for a place for my son to play basketball and light weightlifting. He and his friend were visiting this facility and my son seemed to be enjoying the amenities, so my husband and I were contemplating getting him a membership. During the first visit, he lost his beats. We called the facility the next day and no one had turned them in. We thought that the beats would show up after a day or so.On Thursday, I went to pick my son up from the facility and as he was walking out, he seemed upset. I rolled the window down and asked him ā€œwhat’s wrongā€? He stated that the front desk lady was being rude to him when he asked about his beats. I parked the car so I could go inside. I approached her by saying, good evening how are you today? Im fine, she replied dreadfully. I proceeded to ask her was there a problem with my son asking her if anyone turned in any beats? She started saying things that was irrelevant to my question. My son stated that when he asked her if there was maybe a locker or a lost and found she replied you are asking rhetorical questions. I asked if is this the way you speak to a child? Or is this how you speak to members/guest when they ask questions. She put her index finger up in the air and started raising her voice at me. I told her that is not how you speak to members/guest but more importantly you don’t speak that way to ME. I’m not so much concerned about the beats, they can be replaced. But, as a front desk attendant in a wellness center, the customer service should be more professional and if that expectation can’t be fulfilled, UNC wellness center should seek a different employee. I will not spend my money in this facility and I will not allow my son to come back there as a guest until there is better customer...

I am a current member of this gym and the only reason I am still a member is because of the proximity to my house, that is about the only good thing I have to say about this facility.

The Bad: They just did a re-organization of their stale outdated equipment, and it could not be worse or more bizarre it really is frustrating that no one knows how to run a gym in the area.

If I could give it negative stars for the equipment I would.

Lastly, the number of teenagers using the equipment improperly is really disturbing along with them sitting on the equipment not using it and looking at here phones. Last week I saw two young teenagers making out in the facility this is what this facility has turned into and with the amount of money they charge for membership you would think they would have top of the line equipment, not even close!

Disappointing Frustrating and Sad, these are the words to describe this...
