I gave this club one star for poor assistance I received clubhouse personnel, Chris, today, Friday April 5, 2019. I drove down to Castle Rock because I know of this golf course and wanted to teach my little boy how to play golf. I had called earlier to see if I could rent a couple of clubs for my son, he is only six and was really excited to try golfing. Well, I arrived and Chris helped me, he gave me some clubs, at the end he said he needed to keep my credit card for the clubs he loan me. I was a bit shocked actually, I reluctantly gave it to him and he simply placed it on the counter behind him. I told him, its odd that you would need to keep my credit card, I'm not comfortable with the idea... I could give you my driver license instead. He said it was policy. He said I gave you good clubs you could seek them (i wasn't offended), I said well anyone could take my credit card and use it (remember he just placed it on the counter behind him in the club store out in the open). We don't even do that at the bars anymore. I thought he would understand but His face turned red, all because i said "anyone" could have taken it and used it. He took it quite personal and gave me the card back and took the clubs back. So no golf for us. Maybe he had bad day or not enough training with people skills/customer service. It was a waste of time and a bummer for my son. But that's apparently ok for him because he gets plenty of customers who don't care what happens to their credit card info. I will be contacting the Town of Castle Rock. Thanks Red Hawk Ridge for...
Read moreFirst time visiting the course and just some observations. If you have a cart with a cooler, then should not you have the cooler filled with ice, or let the guests know where you can get ice. There was a big ice machine and Styrofoam cups in the clubhouse hallway. Was this for the cooler? Was I suppose to pay for the cup and lid? When you play a premium price, shouldn't you have a GPS on the cart. Oh, I was advised that an app can be downloaded but really? The practice range is connected to the clubhouse via a uphill path with no short game area. Putting green is in an entirely different location. Plenty of drinking water on course. The starter, which has to stand in the hot sun or partial shade of a cart, did not advise where the restrooms were located on the course or pace of play expectations. If I had to perform that task in those conditions I would have trouble remembering where I was. Very sad. Course was in average condition overall with the maintenance crew out on trying to keep the fairways from drying out. Course layout was through many houses boarding the holes. Many tees were elevated providing views of the landing area and surrounding housing developments. Greens were in good repair but had a very uninspiring layout. Marshals, not player assistants, were just that. The golf shop staff was friendly and informed.
Overall my experience did not meet my expectations. Maybe I was aiming too high. Communicate better to set the guests expectations and delight them with everyone connected...
Read moreI want to start off with the fact that I loooovvvee this course. Definitely top 2 or 3 favorite courses to play in the Denver area. The course is in great shape for this time of the year. Just punched the greens, so putts are not rolling true but that is to be expected this time of year. My reason for giving it 3 stars is totally based off of 1 employee of the course that left a bad taste in me and my friends’ mouths to the point that we may never come back and play Red Hawk again.
As we were finishing our putts on 18, an employee came storming down from the club house yelling about how much money we cost the course for being 3 minutes behind pace. He was very abrasive the entire time and escalated to the point where him and my friend were arguing. Just for the record, I have played with my buddy a couple hundred times, and he has literally never gotten in an argument with a golf course employee until this happened. Anyways, the employee called the cops because he can attack people verbally, but obviously can’t deal with anyone standing up for themselves. Great course, and great staff with one...
