Very sad course. Emerald Vale has by far my favorite layout in the Cadillac area; every hole offers intrigue and shots are beautifully framed. The courseās condition, though, was embarrassing. Their driving range appears to lack any irrigation, with both the hitting areas and range completely dead. Putting green was diseased, and you could seldom find a 15 footer that didnāt go through patches of dirt. Several fairways and greens suffered similar issues, completely lacking grass and being overrun with clovers. Cups allowed pins to lean nearly 45 degrees to one direction or another, and bunkers were littered with rocks that could tear up your club. The green fees failed to accommodate for the laughable condition of the course. If the turf quality could be returned to even a respectable level, this would easily be my favorite course near Cadillac. However, this is sadly not the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe play a lot of up north resort courses and this one is truly a hidden gem. There were really fun elevations throughout the 18 holes and it was a beautiful view in every direction. The greens rolled smooth and the fairways had very little distress. Nice even tee boxes. Even the gravel cart paths were nice and smooth. Talked to some workers on the course along the way and they were proud of their course. People in pro shop and snack bar were so pleasant to visit with. Our only negative, small as it may be, is that there were no windshields on the golf carts. The carts were clean and in very good shape, but windshields can help on a cool day. But we understand everything costs money. We can't wait to go back and we will tell our friends not to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreNice Matthews layout but dissapointed in conditioning. Good deal on golf now for $40.98 for wife and I. Yamaha carts need some work, course doesn't drain very well. Worst bent grass fairways I have played. Back 9 visually nicer than open front. Of course after playing Black Lake Onaway a few weeks back no comparison to Rees Jones for $70 and Garland Swampfire. Was in Reed City for grandsons football and had to go to Caberfae to get season passes so thought we would try a round here.
Did like hearing Amish horse click clacking . Have not been thru Manton since the freeway was extended. Will not be back, get what you pay for, not willing to pony up bigger cash...
