Trailside Apartments — Local services in Cedar Falls

My neighbor at UVMills, who is also my coworker recently turned in a check for her rent. It was made out for $400, like always. However, when she checked her bank account after they had cashed it, they had taken out $2100. When she called them to see why that had happened, the rude woman who answered the phone said that her "4" looked like a "21". WHAT?! I don't even know how that could happen, and even if it did look like that, there was still clearly written out "four-hundred" on the check. How could you honestly cash that without calling her to ask about that? It is ridiculous. The woman who answered didn't apologize and was very rude. My coworker was crying and very frustrated and it definitely was the final straw for me having anything remotely nice to say about this place. DO NOT LIVE HERE.

Living in University Mills was not the greatest. The apartment was decent only because they provide internet access and a washer and dryer included. Those were two redeeming characteristics. I chose this location because it is close to campus, which is where I work. If you are not a student (or dislike the stereotypical college kid behavior), I would not recommend living here. People are typically throwing parties and drinking, and the walls are basically paper thin and you can hear EVERYTHING. Another reason I chose this apartment was because of the cost. $399 seemed pretty reasonable for all the things that are available here. However, there are a lot of "convenience fees" and other random charges, plus the utilities are ridiculous, even when the furnace and air conditioning aren't even being used. If you are a college student and mommy and daddy are helping out with the bills, it's probably a fine place to live. However, if you're like me, out of college and working a job that doesn't pay much, and paying for everything on your own, I would not recommend living...

Like most young college students I thought living here would be a sweet relief from the dorms... and boy was I wrong. The apartments are not as nice as the show one you tour and ours has mold growing in it in multiple areas. The kitchen sucks, the appliances barely work, and the walls are thin. It's very loud and obnoxious all the time.The management of this place is a joke and they do nothing for the residents. Personally, My roomie and I were in a dangerous situation with the 2 other girls who were assigned to live with us and when we feared for our safety due to the threats and violence in the apartment. We turned to management for help and they did NOTHING. We had to get law enforcement and an attorney involved and still the management of UV MILLS said there was nothing they could do except wait until there was more evidence of violence. They were waiting until we got physically harmed before they would let us move. We desperately wanted out of our leases for our safety but the manager smiled and said "theres nothing i can do". Bottom line DO NOT LIVE here, they are too expensive for a small shanty place and you WILL get paired with 2 psychotic druggie random roommates. I have never regretted something more in my life, looking back now i wish i would have known the truth. Worst place. EVER! If i could give 0...
