DO NOT surrender your pet here. I called around the beginning of July to get information on how to surrender my two pit bull mixed I was told I would have to schedule an appointment I scheduled for 8/27 I explained that they were rescued as puppies and have never been trained but they are friendly the person on the phone told me they give them time to adjust to the facility if they don’t adjust they would have to be put down. At that point I’m thinking ok they should be good they will be good by the next day of being there. We get to the appointment date I called and asked if there is someone who can help me bring them in the girl said I would have to call the city… I let that pass. I get inside to see which side I need to bring them in and if there is any paperwork I need to complete before bringing them in my babies are very clingy and not used to being around many people she has me come to the other side of the which means I had to walk out and come back in for her to tell me the same information she could have said before which was that she needs to check and see if the dogs have been chipped so they will have to come in I explained that they would be excited because they hear dogs and this is a new place she seemed weird acting from the beginning of our conversation but I was already sad about having to give them up and did not feel like arguing. They are both girls never bit anyone I have toddler nieces and nephews that have played with them. So I bring Asher in she starts barking because there are other dogs barking in the back…makes sense because that’s how DOGS communicate. She immediately says that she would have to be put down and now all of a sudden they don’t have any room at that point I’m pissed off and I ask why was that not said a month ago when I booked this appointment she pretty much ignored me and said I can take her back if I want to which I should have I hate that I let them go to this slaughter house. The other situation that I want to mention is that when I brought my dog to the back none of the workers are friendly to pets at all they all act like they were scared the idiot that was “helping” me tried to act like my dog tried to bite her when she barked her way the manager I’m assuming as I’m going back and forth with the idiot says just think of it as adopting kids no one wants to adopt aggressive kids. I wanted to call her something so bad for one what a horrible comparison and two how hateful can you be I bottle fed these dogs. I’m truly hurt and wish I had another option I prayed that they were not mistreated before or even got away. Oh and just to be clear all the staff are Caucasian and they way I was treated made me feel like it was definitely some discrimination. They will say they reviewed the camera to make you look like a liar neither of my dogs tried to bite anyone!!!! my other dog literally had to be picked up by me she did not make a sound and was scared before I brought her into that evil place. Stop your bs it was not a hard decision it was made as soon as I walked in the door!! I would like to see this so called footage of my dogs trying to bite that silly acting girl. They have an automated response for everything because they do this all the time. I should have read the reviews before don’t be like me I was in a rough spot and had to make a quick decision that is painful and this place made it 10x worse

Me and my grandmother found what seemed to be a puppy named Paige in the middle of the street in the rain at 6am this morning. We took her to tri-city around 5pm to see if she was chipped as my grandma already has 3 dogs. Upon arrival a very heavyset Hispanic lady immediately scanned her saw she had a chip and was like we can’t take it because of your specific street and we’d have to drive to Dallas even though we’re in cedar hill. She then said well I can write down the chip number and when asked what would we do with a chip number she didn’t know and proceeded to say I can possibly see if we could get in touch with the owner. Throughout all this she is very rude and dismissive despite us trying to do the right thing and find Paige’s owner before having to go to work this evening. She then goes in the back room to find the owners information and wouldn’t give us anything due to privacy despite us basically being stuck with the dog because they can’t take it. We put Paige on the neighbors app and lots of people offered to take her from us so we told her well if you don’t take her we’ll just give her away. She then gets very standoffish goes in the back room with another employee and somehow is now able to get in touch with the owner and suddenly says they can take the dog. we ask her what changed and she has the audacity to tell us snarky that we can’t just give other peoples property away despite us telling her we can’t have another dog we can’t drive to Dallas right now and that they know the owners address and contact info. At fist they wouldn’t even touch the dog and now that they’re taking it they hurriedly snatch her from us almost implying that we’re trying to steal her and give it to strangers if we wanted to do that we wouldn’t have brought her to tri city in the first place!!We did not get her name but if you walk into the store you’ll be to Identify her. Not a lot of people do the right thing and try to make sure a dog is given to the right person and her attitude and rudeness definitely deters people from even wanting to if I could give negative starts I would please work on a more open atmosphere!!!

Today I had to surrender my dog and it was the worst experience. I felt that my experience had everything to do with how “I” looked (black) and the conversation reflected that. I waited for 20 mins before being asked the reason for my visit but other people that came in after me (white) were asked right away and I was the last one to be asked even though I was there first, but I digress. The young lady asked if I had submitted the necessary paperwork prior to my visit today and I did confirm that it was sent 2 weeks prior. She informed me that she was unable to locate my email. I then pulled up my email and confirmed the date and person that I emailed, at that time she asked for my email (again) and stated she located my email. She then proceeds to say that my dog would most likely be put down. She ask if I would bring my dog in. I bring in my 1 year old pure bred German Shepherd and she tries to approach him and he moves away from her and cowards near me. She then says this is not looking good for him. I proceed to tell her that it’s because I’m here but he is extremely friendly. He doesn’t show any aggression towards her,no barking, growling, snapping, his hair isn’t standing up on his back. He’s just laying on me. I assured her that he’s a sweet heart. She asked what was the youngest age of kids he’s been around, I stated 3 and she asked does he get along with other dogs I confirmed both big and small dogs and cats. I asked if I could escort him to the back and she said I would have to but it’s not looking good for him. At this point I feel like she doesn’t want my dog to be there, solely because of me. I cried and left and she states “we’ll take good care of him”. I felt that was disingenuous. I tried to find a foster home but was unsuccessful. Stone is a pure bred 1 year old German Shepherd that would make the best pet but I feel like she couldn’t get past “me’ and that is so disappointing.

If I could give them less than one star I would, simply for hospitality and human interaction.

My brother was forced to take a litter of puppies here (I would like to specify that we had fully intended on keeping and raising several of the puppies and we had potential owners for the others, but due to family circumstances we were unable to keep them and the potential owners never came to fruition; this was definitely NOT our first choice, but our last resort). It broke all of our hearts. First, we called. I spoke with them first, and was immediately hung up on as soon as I said I had a litter of puppies to bring in. So my brother tried: as soon as the words were out of his mouth, they told him he was irresponsible for having a litter of puppies and he should be ashamed of himself, but that he could bring them in before closing and hung up on him.

We brought them in and were immediately berated and insulted for how horrible pet owners we were for letting mama dog get pregnant. Every time they opened their mouth it was to tell us how terrible we were. They criticized the condition of the puppies and mumbled about how ill-kept and dirty they were even though we had JUST given them a bath and they were quite clean. They constantly reminded us that this was a kill shelter and we were basically sentencing his puppies to die by bringing them here (that is NOT good marketing, just FYI. "We want to help you find homes for your animals! They'll die here though, just so you know. But bring them anyway!" That's essentially the attitude we were given).

To top it off, a young couple came in specifically looking for puppies. They spoke with the receptionist who told them at the moment they were all out of puppies, but that "those people" (referring to my brother and myself) were bringing in more that would be ready to adopt in a few days, and they were welcome to go over and look at them. So they did. And they asked the simple question of "What breed are they?" They were instantly TORN INTO by the staff. "It is ILLEGAL to try and take the puppy from them on our property, how DARE YOU?!?!??" They weren't; they asked what breed they were. When they explained the receptionist said it was okay, she immediately turned around and called them flat out liars, even though my brother and I both heard her give them permission.

There are absolutely awful people working here. Had we any other choice I would not have left them the puppies, but we were out of options. They refused to believe that we were anything but monsters and that this was hard enough as it was. They insisted on making us feel ashamed and worse than we already did for bringing the puppies to a shelter. And then they showed their asses (pardon my language) by screaming at a couple for doing what they were told they were allowed to do by the very same staff members.

They have a good track record as far as pets and adoptions go, yes. But they treat the humans they work with like...
