If you're looking for a nice place not far from Dallas to get up close to some farm animals, this is the place!

I visited on a Tuesday morning and aside from some feed/hardware shoppers and cafe patrons, I had the place to myself. It was so peaceful!

STORE: Ladies - there's a great gift shop inside with cute home goods (including Tyler candles, sprays and detergents), handbags, attire, glasses, jewelry, belt buckles, hats, etc.

Men - gift shop doesn't leave you out and there's also a True Value Hardware in there.

There are also Texas themed souvenirs including baby stuff and toys for children.

FARM: For $4 you can buy a bucket of pellets to feed the animals. I adored the longhorns (watch out for them horns when they turn their head!). There were also chickens and goats.

They have a train and hay ride for kiddos (not sure cost or times of operation).

I visited in April and it was so green and beautiful. I enjoyed leisurely exploring the farm and then relaxing at a shaded picnic table.

Soon they'll be opening their on-property Silos for overnight guests. I'm looking forward to staying in one of those.

CAFE: The cafe inside is open until 3pm. In addition to the kitchen menu there are snacks, drinks and ice cream bars. Indoor seating as well as many covered picnic tables right outside.

FINAL COMMENTS: I was kinda on the fence about making the drive up there. Was pleasantly surprised that my expectations were exceeded. The staff made me feel very welcome. I look forward...

Extremely disappointed in this pumpkin patch. There's nothing for the kids to look at on the hayride but dead grass. The pumpkin field was a complete joke for a "pumpkin patch". The animals, in my opinion, are not cared for, the sheep could not even see from the matted wool hanging in their eyes and just hanging off of them in general. $8.00 each to get in, does not include the train ride but you get a free cold shriveled hotdog. Not one employee we encountered (hayride and train ride) spoke to us or smiled and just looked like they would have rather been anywhere else but there. We asked an employee inside True Value for the price on a ride on fire engine, we left 1 1/2 hrs later and still could not get a price on it. They just got them in....OK, you still need to know the price if you want to sell your merchandise. Oh and the petting farm, the kids can pet them through the fence if the animals will come up to the fence. Any petting farm/zoo we have been to the kids get to go in with the animals. Will not return or recommend this...

A must go place. Great for elders only or Elders with small kids. Shopping a mix of country and farm hardware, then a senior size fast food meal in the cafe. Eat inside or the shaded outdoor area. Next buy a bucket of animal food so you may go out to farm animals to feed animals. A nice outing for Seniors on weekdays while children are in school. Great place for Seniors to take children to do relaxed not crowded times with Great grandkids. Play a table game with kids while waiting for a cafe meal, then take a meal outside the table to eat and view the farm equipment of the past. Follow with a purchase of food to feed the farm animals. Slow pace outing keeps me returning several times. Kids love it and the stories of past farming methods versus modern methods of today. Cell phones off, conversations face to face is easy here. Kids love time...
