The RANCH — Local services in Challis

Came here with a group and had one of the worst experiences I've ever had at a restaurant. We arrived with about 20 people, both adults and children. The staff had us wait for a few minutes while they prepared some seating which was understandable. Once our tables were ready we had our children sit at a separate table so us adults could sit together.

We sat there for over an hour without anyone taking our order or even asking us about drinks. A couple of us went to the bar to get drinks and were instructed that we couldnt do that. After finally getting to order the waitress came back 10 minutes later and told us thst there were no more sirloin. Another hour went by before our food even arrived, cold and greasy and it was well passed their closing time.

Mind you we had our children ages 6-15 all sitting at a table this whole time. They were absolute angels the entire time despite starving and realizing that they wouldnt get to go swimming back at the hotel because of all the time wasted at this restaurant waiting to order and eat. Ive been to numerous restaurants before that not only acknowledge childrens good behavior but also reward them with a small desert. This place didnt say a thing and even though we spent hundreds of dollars they couldnt even show their appreciation for not only our children's great behavior but our patience as adults too. I will not be back...

Homemade blue cheese and ranch dressings were mouthwateringly delicious.

Ordered medium rare prime rib and got medium, probably because it was a little thin? It was good. As were the JoJo's.

Why 4 stars instead of 5?

We arrived for 6pm dinner reservations and weren't able to put in our food order until much much later (maybe 7 or 7:30?). Never got our appetizers, salads came first, and then our meals at 8:15.

Extremely disappointed in our experience at The Ranch. We made a reservation for our party of 8 and were promptly seated, but that was the best part of our night. We waited an hour and a half from the time we ordered to actually receive our food. My steak had the consistency of a brillo pad. I couldn't even choke it down.
