I was absolutely terrified to go in the water and absolutely hate the cold but was invited by a friend and figured I would enjoy the saunas. However, after several âplungesâ in one 2-hour period, Iâm totally hooked. At first, I just âdidâ it ⌠but soon, itâs so incredibly meditative and I craved it. Itâs odd but dipping down to my shoulders was somehow easier than it can be in the summer! I wore hat and mittens but not everyone did. Itâs important to keep your hands above water. The thinner wool socks tend to be better but Iâm excited to try neoprene (diving) socks. On my first trip, I stayed in longest 5 minutes - much longer than needed for the benefits which allegedly start tapering off at 3 minutes. I feel amazing ⌠the endorphins didnât necessarily set in immediately but an incredible endorphin high still the next day. I literally canât wait for my next trip. Changing tents heated with a wood stove and totes for your things to be placed in. I was worried about being cold and wet walking back to my car but it was suuuuch a great experience and well...

Going to Sauna Camp was an absolute blastâit really felt like going to summer camp, but with a whole lot more steam! Our fellow "campers" came from all over, including places like Colorado, and everyone was friendly and fun. Some were seasoned pros, rocking their sauna hats, towels, coats, and special shoes, while others (like me) embraced the experience with a swimsuit, beanie, flip-flops, and a trusty beach towel.
The atmosphere was rustic and authentic, with occasional waves of smoke when fresh wood was added to the fire. And letâs talk about the heatâwow! When someone poured water on the stones, the temperature skyrocketed in the best (and sweatiest) way possible. But the real highlight? Jumping into the freezing lake between sauna rounds. I braved three hot/cold cycles in the two-hour session, and each one left me feeling more invigorated than the last.
If youâre up for an adventure that will leave you refreshed, exhilarated, and maybe just a little addicted to the sauna life, Sauna Camp...
Read moreMy group of four recently visited Sauna Camp and opted for the public sauna experienceâwe had an amazing time! The setting was beautiful, and the two-hour session flew by.
To make it a true 5-star experience, here are a few suggestions: Of the three saunas, only one reached the heat level our group preferred. It would be great if they were all consistently hotter, however, I understand the one that's on the lake can only get so hot. We booked the 4:30-6:30 PM slot to catch the sunsetâwould it be possible to angle the saunas slightly for a better view? Lastly, the post-sauna changing process could be improved, as walking up to the bathrooms in a wet swimsuit isn't ideal, and the changing tent gets crowded quickly. Another idea for the private sauna option is having a golf cart or side by side to transport you from the parking lot to the lake. I didn't mind the walk, but I could see some people minding :).
Overall, a unique and refreshing experienceâIâd definitely come back...
