You never know what you'll find at UNC surplus. It usually includes lots of filing cabinets, bookshelves 3-ring binders, laptop cases, and office chairs, but I've also seen framed pictures, building materials, sturdy dorm-type furniture, dishes, lab equipment (including microscopes on occasion), medical office furnishings, bulletin boards, old electronics, Christmas trees, and even some new, big Nike cleats. The best way to shop here is to drop in occasionally and see what has shown up.

I sure hope that UNC is taking care of them. I've gotten so many things for my nonprofit photo booth and event management side gig here and two computers for my kids.    Read moreI guess it'll be hit or miss depending on what's available at the time. I saw a lot of used desks, book shelves, chairs mainly. There were some electronic stuffs like computer monitors which might be worth buying. We got a pretty nice desk for $40+tax. I wish they opened on at least one of weekends. Their opening days and hours don't work well with my 9-5 weekday job. But I will definitely stop by and check this place next time I need a used...
