Never shop here! You will be treated rudely and you may be accused of stealing! After receiving the news that my Aunt had died unexpectedly, I got off of work early and I decided to go to Folly Beach to clear my head. On the way there I decided to visit Treasure Island for the first time. Big Mistake! I put about $50 worth of stuff on the counter and tried to be friendly. To my surprise, the cashier had a nasty attitude and accused me of stealing! She even asked what was in my pockets! I was only wearing swimming trunks and a t-shirt because I'm on my way to the beach. I was shocked and confused, but I stayed polite and emptied my pockets for her-- even turned them inside out. Nothing but my car keys and wallet. Instead of apologizing to me, she doubled down and said that she knows she saw me steal something and that I must have dropped it off somewhere around the store. All I can figure is she must of saw me put my car keys in my pocket while entering the store. I would have accepted an apology but she instead snarled the total to buy the stuff on the counter. I remained polite but shook my head and said wow you just accused me of stealing and now you won't apologize-- I don't want this stuff anymore. As I was walking out she yelled something to the effect of "This is my business and I don't have to serve anyone I don't want to! Don't come back!" I just replied "Don't worry about that lady, you're crazy!" I was hoping I could buy some stuff from Treasure Island for my wife and I to help ease my grief after receiving the news of my aunt's unexpected passing; instead I left feeling much worse after being treated like trash. This happened to me years ago but it's still bothered me enough to this day that I felt the need to write this review. It was my worst shopping experience ever! Please...
Read moreThe store has a lot of merchandise and great gifts. I have been a Charleston born and southern girl for 32 years before leaving with my military husband, and Folly Beach had always been my favorite place. With that being said, I was getting gifts for my coworkers in AZ and not sure if the cashier was having a bad day or thought I was a visitor, but she had such a nasty attitude. I asked to put some of the items on the counter cause they were glass and had more shopping to do, and she just stared at me. So i went on to shop and thought ok maybe it will be different at check out. As she was wrapping the gifts in brown paper cause most of them were glass, I tried talking to her and she just had a nasty look on her face and didn't seem interested. I spent almost 300 dollars, and yes, I kept my receipt. Maybe she was mad she had a few people behind me, and she had to wrap the glass stuff, I don't know. But I know she did not have the southern hospitality we give visitors, and thank goodness I am a local I wouldn't want visitors to think...
Read moreWe will NEVER buy from here again! On July 4th my daughter's family and I were on our way to Folly and stopped at Treasure Island. We bought a beach umbrella for $30. When we put it up on the beach, the umbrella bend almost double in the wind. I tried to turn it in different ways, and while doing so, it turned inside out. I finally put the back of it against the wind. Nothing did any good. It looked like it was going to break the way it was bending. No one else's was bending this much! We had it up for about 15 minutes and took it down. On the way back, we stopped by the store to tell them about it and hoped I would get my money back. The cashier was quite rude to me! She said it was supposed to bend like that to keep from breaking. I told her no other umbrella was bending that much, but she kept insisting it was supposed to do that. Of course, I didn't get my money back, and I am stuck with a cheap $30 umbrella! We should have kept it up, so it would...
