A great body of water that nearly splits the state in half, emptying into Long Island Sound, although it's nothern reach extends into Canada. I grew up on the Connecticut river, and the amount of wildlife there is on the river is absolutely astonishing. From Bald Eagle nests along it's shoreline, to the breaches of the endangered Sturgeon, the variety is amazing. Blue Herons, Ospreys, and other birds key in on migratory baitfish like American Shad and Blueback Herring. Striped bass and other game fish also chase these baitfish. The river is also a great place to do some boating in the summer. And being pulled in a tube behind the boat in the river is one of my favorite childhood memories. Water skiers and wakeboarders alike love the river for it's long straight away stretches and summertime...

We arrived at Stuart and John's Sugar house in Westmoreland, NH, at about 10 am. We were amazed that the menu was so vast. We waited for 20 minutes, enjoying the hillside vistas before we moved inside to sit on the comfortable benches. The visitors and staff were cheery, and the food was well worth the wait. We had to walk after such a great meal! We visited the adjoining boiling room and watched the syrup being made. The equipment looks like a silver locomotive! We then walked across the road to visit cow barn and the calf barn. No Sunday pancake and farmer's breakfast would be complete without a scenic Sunday drive along the Connecticut River! From Westmoreland to West Chesterfield, the backroads of New Hampshire were very relaxing and did...

The Connecticut River, drawing the picturesque border between the states of New Hampshire, and the green mountains of Vermont. You won't find much more natural beauty than the River, with it's awesome brown water, breathtaking assortment of wildlife and fauna, plentiful wastewater runoffs, and countless homeless encampments.

As it flows from rural Vermont through urban & city areas, "The Connecticut" as it's referred to by locals, offers so much to see and so many things to do.

Plan your next...

Such a lovely river, I like the way that it runs from the Canadian border all the way to the Long Island sound! The river varies in depth as well as Vista for those hundreds of miles. Sometimes it looks like a lake, some places you can just about walk across! Wonderful for kayaking, canoeing fishing, some places are even suitable to water ski. It’s a real treasure.
