ReStore RI — Local services in Charlestown

This is a very cool place doing some very cool recycling. I love the idea of being able to keep perfectly fine and reuseable appliances, furniture and building materials out of the landfill or recycling and reusing them, which is the least resource intense way to reuse.

They have really competitive prices on things like air conditioners, office chairs, kitchen tables, cans of paint, unopened boxes of tile and laminate flooring, kitchen ranges, shelving units, and even kitchen stuff like plates, cups, and smaller appliances and microwaves and toasters. I even saw a deep fryer from a commercial kitchen!

Best of all? All the money raised goes to Habitat for Humanity, for making homes for people who don't have homes, so you can feel good about any and all money you spend here. Check it out before going new, you may find...

This store offers used household items for sale terius all items are donated to have everything from appliances to Kitchen Cabinets To Living Room Furniture bedroom furniture dishware and more. Sometimes you can find a really good deal other times not so good. Beware when buying an appliance. I purchased a dryer which ran sign for about a year and when I took it apart to fix it I found one of the safety thermostatic temperature sensors had been bypassed when it failed probably by a homeowner and not a safe way to run a dryer. You need to be very cautious when buying appliances there. Most of the furniture is as is and in many cases you can get something nice for not a whole lot. Terrible communication, not reliable.

We got a new couch and wanted to donate our old one. It was in good shape. We contacted Restore and provided photos and dimensions of the couch. They said they wanted it and set a pickup date for today. We kept the couch for weeks and put it out today. They then just informed us that the couch is in great condition, but "they do not have room for it". They should have known this when we sent the dimensions and photos.
