Ramona in the front office provides great customer service and is a pleasure to work with. Would have given them 5 starts, but I've dropped a few loads of yard debris off there while clearing a few pine trees and been frustrated a few times. There's no leeway with the hours. Gate closes at 5pm, means gate closes at 5pm - even if you're just a mile away. Was surprised they wouldn't hold the gate open for what would have been 2 minutes. Not really a big deal, and my fault for showing up after their posted hours. However, took 2 stars away because of what happened today. No idea why, but they changed their hours from 5pm to 4pm either today or this week, but didn't tell google - which showed their hours open till 5pm. Called ahead to tell them I'm dropping a load just at 4:05 and pay, and find out they closed early at 4pm which royally screwed up my plans. For the previous 2 hours, I'd been frantically cutting up the final tree in our yard in the middle of a rain storm to make it to the yard to dump the material to return the dump trailer to sunbelt before they closed at 5pm. Although I'm sure the people at Sunbelt no doubt like the smell of pine, returning a trailer loaded with 3-4 tons of pine logs might not go over so well. Ended up taking the load to Soil Supply which was 15 minutes further away. The extra 30 minutes put me just beyond the 5pm return window. Really, really hoping that when I return the trailer and tractor and compactor tomorrow that I don't get charged for an extra full day because wallace farm can't keep their hours up to date on google. Other than that, WF is a good place to drop your yard waste in bulk and pick up some mulch. The topsoil seems to have some organic mix in it which is probably good for grass, but turns to straight mud so it's not really...
Read moreWallace Farms is the manufacturer of Sta-Green Flower and Vegetable Garden Soil sold in Lowes stores. I bought 2 bags and found several pieces of trash as well as rocks larger than golf balls in it. It's also more like mulch than soil. They clearly are not filtering their product and letting it compost long enough. The bags have a satisfaction guarantee and over 2 months ago I sent Wallace Farms a letter describing the problems with all required proof (UPCs, original receipt, and within 60 days) along with a picture. I have not gotten a response, so it appears they do not honor the satisfaction guarantee printed on their product. I would not recommend anyone use their Sta-Green products in their vegetable gardens. I added a photo that shows a sample of the trash and rocks in the bags with a quarter included for size reference. Update: While possible my letter was not received, responding so quickly and after operating hours shows there was little or no effort to double check IMO. Plus, it's an easy way out of a guarantee that requires the original receipt (see other reviews where complaint listed as not received). Still doesn't address the bigger issue of why this product has so much garbage and rocks in it. Wish I had read Sta-Green and farm reviews prior to purchasing. No apologies for garbage contaminated product speaks loudly about the real level of commitment to customer...
Read moreTerrible delivery "service"!
I have had Wallace Farms deliver garden soil in their dump truck at least twice before, (that I know of for sure), and probably more like 4 times over the 17 years we've lived here. Always happy with the product and delivery.
Well, not this time! The dump truck driver showed up and refused to do it. I told him it had been done before,: exact same yard, exact same truck, exact same amount of soil (5 cubic yards, weight approx 5000-13,500 lbs), but he still refused. I told him I didn't care if he left tire marks in my yard but he still refused. I don't have a pickup truck, and I cannot lift thousands of lbs of soil even if I did have one.
Spoke to Stacey the deliver person, and Jenny the office manager, and still got refused. I asked if she could have a couple of their guys come out in a pickup truck, and bring bags of soil (I think 135 bags would be the equivalent) into my raised bed garden space, because I'm not able to lift all that myself. Still nope! Nice to know they were so cooperative and helpful. Such a shame these days that workers refuse to do the job they are paid for. If that was my company, I'd find a new driver. Don't expect any service here, or any cooperation or helpfulness even for...
