I have grown up on this river. My grandparents bought a lot in Guntersville before i was ever born. This is the most beautiful river in the world. I can attest to the awesome catfish (I'm not a big catfish eater though) I've caught thousands of them though. It has some of the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets ever seen or experienced. Everyone is so friendly you can sit on your boat dock day and night and everyone waves or says hello. I'm so glad that my family has a lakefront property on this river as there is nothing in the world to compare the experience. We lost my grandparents several years ago and both were buried in a cemetery that is minutes from the lakehouse. My grandfather loved this river as well as my grandmother and both of their sons enjoyed growing up on there. My uncle and his wife live there now and All the grandkids and great grandchildren also love the lake. Sorry from such a long review. I don't do many reviews but this place means so much to me and it's just a beautiful place. Not only is it peaceful, and an excellent place to catch catfish, it's one of the best rivers just to go for a boat ride or jet ski ride. Also skiing and tubing, wake boarding, etc. It also has some of the best catfish restaurants you will ever find. I will add some pictures later. Hopefully I have some on my...

When God the generous giver Stretched his grace between the seas, He placed an untamed river In the land of Tennessee.
The mountaintops of stately trees He painted emerald green, Beneath the forest canopy Were treasures buried in-between.

A land of Southern belles Guns and shells, Country smells And rebel yells. ...........................................
Down the Smokey Mountain range Along the river corridor, God who does not change Remains proprietor.
He who made all things Creatures great and small, Who crowned Adam king At his Inaugural.*
The same has held in store For us—the legacy And southern lore Of Eastern Tennessee.
*In effect God said, "This whole...
Read moreThe question how was the TN River is hard to answer because I do love the River and the beautiful area BUT, I wouldn't get into the water or eat anything from it. It's a sad fact that even 20 years ago the River water was NOT contaminated as badly as it is now. I remember when on clear, calm days you could see down through the water to a certain point. They have allowed companies to dump toxic things in the water as long as they paid the fine's for too many years!!!! Unfortunately, those fine's weren't used to find better ways to filter and clean the water back up and I'm worried about the long term effects it's actually had on the wildlife that is in it and that drinks from it. 😢😢 It also makes me wonder how many people have gotten cancer or will one day due to the long term effects it's had in our day to day...
