This review contains both "The Narrows" and "The Sinks" reviews. "The Narrows" first, followed by "The Sinks".
"THE NARROWS REVIEW" This is a beautiful wooded disc golf course with lots of trees and wildlife. The reason it's called "The Narrows" is because the disc paths are narrow between the trees.
This is a brand new course - actually still under construction at the time of this review 10/2022.
Warning!!! Watch out for all of the small tree stumps that are about 6" tall and easily hide themselves in the fallen leaves. They are all over this course, on the main walking paths, and easy to trip over. *When the course is complete, these will be gone.
Most all of the holes are long range: 605' was the longest.
All of the holes have disc goals, but not all holes have launch pads as this course is still under construction.
Also note that at the end of a couple of the earlier holes, there is a 6' barbed wire fence. Do your best to keep the discs from going over that fence or your discs are as good as gone.
There is not good signage on this course as this is still a new course under construction. I don't think you could get lost, but finding Hole #13 was a tad difficult. At the end of Hole #12, there is a path to the right. That path takes you back to "The Sinks" course. You actually have to back track a bit from the goal and head to the left for the next Hole #13. *I am sure there will be much better signage when the course is complete.
A bonus is that we didn't see any Poison Ivy at all. The time of this review is in mid October, but Poison Ivy is still in bloom. So, it was a nice surprise when we weren't trying to avoid it during play - especially when loosing a disc in the woods.
This is a dog friendly disc golf course. Bring your fur babies. They would enjoy the trek through the woods. *Just be sure they are on leashes as per the course's regulations. And, because it is a long course, make sure you take them some drinking water.
It had not rained in awhile when we visited the course. However, it was very obvious that when it does rain good, there will be some flooded areas as noted by the kayak we saw on Hole #16. That was just so random but funny to see.
This course has a cute gnome theme throughout. *Bring some gnomes to display or hide on the course. Let's make it the cutest themed course around. š
I do believe that this will be one of our absolute favorite courses once it is complete. We had so much fun playing it today even though it was still under construction.
THE SINKS REVIEW: This is a fun mid range disc golf course with excellent signage. Many of the disc goals even have a directional arrow on the bottom of the goal.
The course was very well maintained with lots of very friendly squirrels and wildlife.
Each launching pad had signage for both the short and long throw.
It hasn't rained in awhile, so there were no wet places when we visited. However, it was obvious that when it does rain, there will be some holes with water issues. *Make sure you have a disc retriever if visiting during rainy spells.
The course is mostly flat with a lot of trees. This can make it difficult in places to throw straight.
Oh, and this course does have a good practice area off to the left before starting the game.
Overall, we really enjoyed this course and plan to return soon.
Note: This course is right next to "The Narrows" course. We actually played them both in one day. "The Sinks" is a fast play and "The Narrows" much longer. *It took about 3 hours to...
Read moreThey should of called this course "The Trees" as there are a lot of them you'll have to figure out getting around. Not your beginner course, although it was easy to find our discs when they accidentally thrown into the woods. This is a fast paced course as there are a lot of other golfers out during the weekend and afternoons. The layout can be a bit confusing as there's a lack of markers to tell you where the next basket is. One hole on the front 9 is a bit dangerous. It's a hard 90° dogleg left from the tee to the basket. After completing the hole you have to walk back across the fairway to the next hole. Your group and the group behind you have to communicate or you are at risk of being hit. What makes this course a pleasure is the people. Everyone was very nice and polite. We spoke with several groups we let play through, as we were a group of 4 newer disc golfers. All the water holes had dried up when we were there, but there are rakes if your disc takes a bath. Overall the course is well maintained and someone has even wrapped some of the trees to protect them. Had a great day outdoors and grateful this course was available. If you are planning on playing a full 18, don't forget the bug repellant. As the afternoon set in the mosquitoes did get a little...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe Sinks gets its name from the multiple sink holes located throughout this 18 hole (+2 extra interior holes). This wooded course is the locals favorite and well laid out and very worn in. Every hole has two pad locations and most holes have multiple basket locations. The local disc golf club is very active and baskets are relocated every few weeks.
The course features a large gravel parking lot, driving range, putting basket, cement pads, a local disc golf information kiosk, and a drop box for found discs. Each of the holes have hole information markers (with basket location markers), and steel shoe scrubbers to remove mud from the bottom of your shoes during the rainy season.
This course typically has multiple groups playing all day, year round. Locals are very friendly and extremely helpful. It's a must play whenever...
